:)I've decided to modify the stock exhaust on my 07 ZZR600. I'm polishing the can and having the tip powder coated Candy Fire Red to match the bike. The problem I am having is after I drilled the rivets out at the rear of the can, the tip will not come out easily. There appears to be some sort of sealant. What would be a good method of removing the tip without gouging the tip? Will the internals just pull out once the tip is removed? Thanks :)

I just gutted out the stock exhaust on Friday. It did take a good amount of time to get the inside canister out. To get the tip out I used a screw driver and basically pried it out using the rivet holes, it wouldn't completely come out so I used a rubber mallet and it popped right out after a few hits. Then to get the rest of the insides out I put a pipe inside the exhaust and swang away with a sledge hammer for awhile.

I cleaned it up and painted the stock can a gloss black and then put stainless steel hex heads where the old rivets were, it looks great. I'll post pictures later today. Plus the empty stock exhaust has a very...unique sound haha.

Here are the pics of my finished exhaust. I first painted it a matte black color, but didn't like how it looked with the rest of the bike still with a gloss finish. So I then repainted using heat resistant black gloss spray paint. Most of the work came from gutting out the exhaust. It has a very deep sound, much louder than OEM stock can. I added stainless steel hex bolts where the old rivets were to add a little flair. Overall i'm pretty happy with it. I will most likely get an aftermarket full exhaust system in the future though.

Hope you guys like it!

He responded that he made it himself. That post was deleted along with the rest.
ok. must of been a trade secret.lol. You would have to be brave to modify that by yourself as Youshi as well as the other manufacturers do alot of testing as to the performance of there systems.

Im having a hard time even finding full exhausts for our bike. I havent found one yet, i dont understand why i cant find them! If im going to spend 400+ on a slip on that does almost nothing for performance i would rather spend the extra 500 to have a full system to have the best chance of greatest h.p gains.

Anyway Im interested to here what people's opinions are on this matter as well, if anyone even has a full system on this site.

You're having a hard time because you did'nt search a 2000-2002 ZX6R "J" model. $400+???? Is that bolt-on gold plated?? I paid $249.95 for my S/S Yoshimura RS-3 bolt-on.

I've been going on search engines and cant find any full exhausts other than Muzzy. As for a $400 slip on, yea the carbon or titanium. I have found two brothers for under 300 but its stainless and i want the least amount of weight possible, PLUS headers.

I'm pretty sure i have seen somewhere here that the 02 636 header bolts right up but im not positive. If that is the case i would definitely go with that to give myself a few more options im hoping. IDK i just think looking for a full system for this bike is a big pain in the ass. I see dyno results for full Akro, however Akro doesnt even make them anymore so its irrelevant, i hate it because i would just get the full Akro. Yoshi doesnt even make a full exahust for this bike. I dont understand why! Is it because its ancient? lol

Look up a few posts at tober's bike. He has leovance headers and slip on. There are a few out there besides muzzy. Just calm yourself down. :) I know his are for other bikes but you can find what you are looking for

I wish he did a more indepth explanation. I wouldnt mind that setup at all. Looks very very good, but im curious as to what the dyno reads for that setup.

only have "butt dyno" results and am still fiddling round with the jet kit and tune so nothing specific to tell yet. I have also added an ignition advancer and jet kit and various other mods so I cant tell you which one did what.

Its a 03-04 zx6r full system. The 03-04 zx6r headers will bolt right up to our bikes stock and aftermarket. There is a possibility or them contacting the oil pan some do some dont. I was able to pull mine away from it but its a snug fit. I had enough space to slip a few sheets of paper in between I placed some heat tape in between to ease my mind about it being so close.

I did not weight it unfortunatley but I can say it was an easy 20 lb difference is weight savings. and the sound is like none other.

You are right though that not many companies make a full system specific to our bikes or the 00-02 zx6r other than Muzzy.
