Same thing happened to me. What I did was i pushed on the seat hard, because it seems it only partially locked. Once I did that I played with it and the seat came out. I make it a habit to push down on the seat when i open it now. Good luck, pm me if you can't get it to work, maybee I can help you.

 

you can reach under the seat and pull on the bar to get the seat to open while using the key to turn the hooks on the seat.

Thanks for both you guy's reponds. I almost have my key twisted trying to open the stupid seat. I was planning to take it back to dealer since i have warrenty until Sept this year... i didn't know you can reach under the seat! i will try to do that. thanks.

 

What killahant said, you may need a long screwdriver. DONT turn the key too hard, you WILL snap it off. EX500's seem to have a problem with the seats locking up. I was bringing a DVD back to blockbuster and had it under the seat of my old 500 and it took me 10 mins to get it open, that damn bar gets snagged on anything under the seat and jams.

Just get a flashlight and look under the seat while you gently turn on the key, you can see what should be moving. There's a bar under there that turns to release the seat IIRC...been a while since I owned a 500. You should be able to give it a little nudge with a screwdriver to get it to release off the latches.

The same thing happened to me yesterday! I was getting pissed. I got a long, thin screwdriver. As I turned the key, I help move the bar with the driver. As it turns out, a tool from the tool bag was preventing the bar from moving all the way.
