Hey whats happening. I had a quick question about some exhausts for my 02 954rr. I have a 2 bros slip on, but I was looking to change to a full exhaust and wasnt sure on the best exhaust for my bike. I've got a power commander and Im down one tooth in the front. I plan on getting some engine work done this coming winter, but for now thats about all the performance mods that I can do without messing with the motor (that I can think of).

I was up in the air on a few systems. I wanted a custom slash cut pipe that ran right from the headers, but I can't seem to find anything for my bike, only thing close was made by racefit (hammythecanman.com), but they dont make them for my 02 954.

My other choice was to go D & D. My buddys gsxr 1000 sounds mean, and its just a slip on. I love the sound of it, but how is performance? Wasnt sure if I would go with the single can or the shotgun style they had.

My ideal pipe would sound loud and mean (louder the better), and give me some significant gains in power. I could really use someones advice. My 2 bros just sounds to wimpy next to my buddies D & D.

Any help would truly be appreciated

Thanks,
casey

First of all, I've heard a D&D on a 954, and they truly sound like shit, IMO. Not deep & mellow or even raspy, just plain loud. But If that's your thing, go for it.

If you want power gains on the 954 go with Arata, Hindle, Micron. Arata gives the highest gains if I remember correctly, and it's a work of art, but it's very $$$$. The Hindle is the least expensive, but still puts out good gains. The Micron Serpent system is really good too, and it's priced in between the Hindle & Arata. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend, but for hp these systems are great! Akro obviously makes good stuff too.

Oh, and the Micron has a pretty mean sound from what I have heard, and the Hindle was mean and loud, FWIW.

Don't forget Arrow!

Nevermind...forget Arrow.

I looked it up on the website and Arrow doesn't make a full system for the 954.

I would go with the Arata or the Micron. Both are great full systems and produce nice gains when properly tuned.

I like the Arata a little more because they are top notch...the Arata systems I have heard sound awesome, although I haven't heard one on the 954.

I have the Akropovic on mine and Im very pleased with it. Loud, but not annoyingly so. Sounds great and performance above 8 grand is awsome. I have the Race system, I havent heard the Evo on a 954 but It sounds great on my friends GSXR1000.

i have a D&D slip on.. they make a full system w/ decent gains from what i've heard. I can tell you that it's loud as hell.. sounds mean at low RPM cruising 3-5K but other than that I hate it. It came on my bike and I'll be replacing it as soon as I decide on what I want. I've been thinking of a full M4 system... anyone know anything about them. I'm not the biggest fan of the micron as I think it's pretty damn loud too and pops way to much up top.

Thanks for the help, You've cleared my head of all the junk I've been thinking of. Whats up with the micron full exhaust? How do you think that would fair on a 954? Also I called up my bike shop, MSP. They do custom work, they're pretty famious for they're drag busa's they build, and they recommended the devinci full exhaust or something like that. They said that would rock shop, not to sure because I havent delt with it. Thanks for all the replys, this is a great place to get good opinions from experienced riders.

Wish I could find a thread with different exhaust and sounds clips of the pipes.

Thanks,
Casey

Thanks for the help. Dyno tuned and money wise, I think the micron serpent full exhaust with the tourched titanium can is the way to go. Im pretty sure how the numbers are going to come out, but Im curious to what its going to sound like (im like a kid in a candy store). I ordered it about 3 days ago. So Im looking forward to it. Thanks for all the help and tips. I'll let you see the dyno when Im all said and done.

Thanks,
Casey
