Okay a friend of mine has an 01 r6 with chrome rims and calipers that look pretty damn sweet if you ask me. He is getting rid of his bike in order to buy a new one and is going to be putting it back to stock and selling the rims and calipers.

He offered me a chance to buy the wheels and calipers at a good price. I looked at ebay and some ads say that 99-02 r6 wheels will fit an R1 and some say it doesnt. The same thing goes for the calipers.

Anyone know for sure wether the 99-02 r6 parts will fit a 2002 R1?

Well heres the straight specs for TIRES

02' R6
front: 120/60 17
rear: 180/55 17

02' R1
front: 120/70 17
rear: 190/50 17

Not only are there rear wheels different but the forks for the 02 R1 are Inverted, which changes the brake caliper mounts and prob. the rotor position on the wheel. There may also be sprocket alignment issues.

Thats what I though but if you look on ebay all the ads are saying will fit 99-02 r6 and r1. I just wanted to make sure before I spent the money thatnks
