yesterday my friend ,who happens to live 6 houses down from me, let me ride his bike. It is a 02 sv650s (great bike btw). I pulled out of my driveway and was taking it down to his house when another friend of mine was coming up the street on his bike. He motioned for me to stop so we could chat for a minute. I squeezed the front brake at the exact time i was passing over a dirt patch in the rode. The front starts shaking and i go sloppy. I hit the pavement at about 25mph. I am on a faily steep hill so I slide for about 40 feet on freshly laid black top. Being that I was only going to ride for a block, I did not have my helmet or jacket on. I have some serious rash on both of my forearms and i bruised several ribs when i hit the curb. Luckily my head never hit the ground. The bike has about 2k in damage. I learned a huge lesson today fella's...from now on only MY bike and ALWAYS with gear.

P.S. Go ahead and flame me if you want...I earned it

Live and learn that is all
I wont flame ya! but we've all done something similar to that. But at least you know that even going 1 block, you need to wear your lid...

I'm glad your ok!! that's all that matters...
msf?............
Glad that you are ok and if you learned a lesson and all you got was some rash and not a cracked skull........lesson learned, Don't be a squid!!!1
I won't flame ya. You got the burn from the road rash for that. Lesson learned, I hope.

Good words for this situation...
Not going to flame you because you got to pay for a bike you don't get to ride anymore!

No we haven't. I haven't, anyway. Want to feel good about yourself? Stop reading here.

You're an idiot, and you go what you had coming. It doesn't sound quite as simple as you put it. I use the front brake on dirt all the time, and yet I don't toss my bike. It was a mistake of YOURS, not the brakes or the dirt.
So let me get this straight...
You completely screwed up. But you know what you did wrong AND you wont do it again. You are alive and will heal. Sounds ok to me. Just glad you're not dead. Keep the sticky side up.
sorry to hear that man. nothing we can say is gonna hurt more than your rash. at least you admit your mistake.
One to grow on! No flames from me!!
My wife was "warming up" her bike around our block, had helmet on but no gear. Hit a lot of gravel in one of our curves and wound up going down. Bad scratches on elbow and knee, live and learn too...I don't think she'll ever take getting on a bike lightly again.

I didn't wreck one of my friend's bikes, but my cousin took my FZR all the way over on a stoppie in front of his house. I wasnt mad, it was no biggie, I was just glad he wasnt hurt.

Now I was riding another cousin's bike when a piece of a broken clutch, that had somehow got left behind, found its way into the gears and bent the shift fork shaft. Embarassing moment. I felt bad, so I helped him tear it down and fix it.

Point is, friendships are worth a lot more than a motorcycle, shit happens, thats life.
My brother let me ride his brand new HD Dyna when I was in town to visit. Riding an unfamiliar bike worth around $15k is kinda nervewracking. I was actually looking forward to finding out what riding a HD is like, but I was so focused on not fucking up his bike that I wasn't able to enjoy myself.
sounds like a lesson learned, the bike can be fixed, just be careful out there
