Well, I can say from personal experience that wrecking your bike sucks. I was out on the Precision Cycles ride today, and we were coming up on a pretty sharp corner, the person in front of my braked hard after entering the corner, I had three options, hit him, go through a barbwire fence, or brake like crazy. I opted to brake like crazy, resulting in a very nice stoppie, which continued to flip and land on my back and head(Missing the other rider and missing the barbwire fence).
The bike has a fair amount of damage, cracked upper fairing, cracked rear fairing, broke sub-frame, bent right front clip.
I have mostly scrapes, I think one of the pegs hit me in the calf (which is hurting like hell).
But all in all.......I thank god that I was wearing a helmet. It is way cheaper to fix the bike than my skull.
The bike won't be getting fixed for awhile, babies due in Nov. and the gf would have my balls if I started spending money on the bike right now. But hopefully it won't take to long to get up and running. I guess all I really need to ride is to fix the sub-frame and the front clip. Broken plastics can wait. I am just hoping that there is nothing wrong with my leg. If it doesn't feel any better in a couple days I guess I will have to go to to the doctor. But I will keep my fingers crossed on that one.
It was a scary site to round that turn and see that. It was great to
see you walk away! You toughed it out and got back on, I don't know
how. Adrenaline is a powerful drug! Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon.
Rick
Thanks guys! I still don't know how in the hell I lifted that bike up and scooted out from under it with it on my back and head. I guess the adrenaline did it. Atleast it was my right leg, I can still shift gears with my left!!!! I am on the tylenol and beer recovery right now, hopefully that will make it feel better. I really DREAD waking up tomorrow. Thank god I don't have a manual labor job, or I would probably quit.
WOW man im glad you made it out ok, i know you prollay dont wanna spend an arm and a leg to fix it but my boy at BlueKustoms.com is a wizz at repairing plastics if you dont believe it check out my bike...that thing was totaled and he made her look new....e-mail him and tell him i sent you over ill tell him to expect you and to hook you up on all repairs and or paint..... try him at [email protected] hope you heal up ok man and let us know if we can help ya out
It doesn't look to bad in the pics. Probably about $800-1000 in damage. Oh well, life goes on. I guess I will just have to close a couple more loans to fix it.
Brandon, check out my boy man my damage was much worse than that and it is as good as new..the dents in my tank were fist sized and the upper on my bike was broken in 5 places...he does great work man, i know itll be cheaper than buyin an upper and the rest of the stuff new
When I am capable of fixing it, I will call him and check it out. My major concern isn't to have it fixed cheaply, it is to have stock parts that haven't been wrecked. But, when the time comes to fix it, I will call him and check it out.
I'm friends with the owner of a suzuki dealership. Send me a list of the parts you need and I'll see what I can get. I know he has several gsxr parts bikes. Glad your ok!
Bike is replaceable but you aren't!! Glad you made it out alright!! Whew...hope your leg is just sore and nothing wrong with it though...but don't ignore it if it feels bad still. You need to be in tip top shape for your new arrival soon!!
