You can run XP on a Mac now it's in beta presently called Bootcamp. Makes me wonder why? You always hear Mac's are free from viruses and such... WTF?
The article I read was in a local paper, saying Mac owners can run XP on Mac's superior hardware.

To run it you need a XP SP2 win install and a free download of bootcamp which makes a custom CD with drivers for XP to allow it to recognize the Mac hardware. Interesting... heres the low down from Apple. http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

Well, not surprised, after all, they are running Intel processors on x86 instruction sets. It was bound to happen, they were already running basically PC hardware with different BIOS, now it is just a PC with a MAC BIOS.

I just read a bit in the bizz section of the newspaper that since mac's are beggining to use the winhoez OS that mac's are being targeted by hackers LMAO :eek:nfloor

Maybe mac owners felt left out since they were relatively immune to viruses :lao

Viruses and other exploits almost all function at the OS level. That means that Windows itself is the vulnerability, not the Mac or x86 based hardware.

From an IT/InfoSec perspective, Windows isn't that bad...with the giant caveat that it needs to remain properly patched and utilize appropriate security settings. Unpatched, its a nightmare. WinXP SP2 and 2003 Server have come a long way in terms of having the right security settings enabled out of the box. If people go ahead and circumvent them, that's their own fault.

The other reason windows is more succeptible to attack is the userbase; there's a ton more people using windows-based OS (of any flavor) than MacOS (of any flavor). Same with Linux variants. If one of the other OS somehow took the forefront (not likely, since people are resistant to change), then that OS would be the target of the most attacks.

^^^ I guess you missed the point entirely.... Mac users are always saying they dont need to worry about viruses... so they felt left out and moved to wimhoez :eek:nfloor
