I went to school at Wilkes University and lived there for 7 years...no not at the University. I graduated in 4 1/2 years. Anywho, nightlife is REALLY good. There are alot of colleges around so that makes for a young crowd and lots to do. You are pretty much in the heart of the Poconos so things to do aren't a problem. Plenty of outdoors stuff to do, hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain bike riding, etc. Wilkes-Barre and Scranton ARE the 2 biggest cities up there. They are seperated by about 15 miles and are pretty much connected by little towns and villages in between. There is also the Susquehanna River that runs right through the middle of everything. The last I heard they were trying to do alot of Riverfront clena-up like the River Walk in San Antonio. I would say that crime is typical for a city of that size. The good thing is the nice towns that lie on the outskirts are far less criminal. I saw alot of bad things living in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Get yourself into the outlying areas and it shouldn't be as bad. PM me if you got any other questions. I got pretty familiar with the area while I was there.
