Hey, I am considering buying one of the following jackets, the brands are fieldsheer and alpinestars:

Fieldsheer:
1)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11920&department=112&division=1
2)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11895&department=112&division=1
3)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11917&department=112&division=1
4)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11891&department=112&division=1

Alpinestars:
1)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11725&department=112&division=1
2)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11722&department=112&division=1
3)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=5329&department=112&division=1
4)http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11721&department=112&division=1

The fieldsheer looks real good considering it has shoulder, elbow, and back CE pads and only costs $100. My only concern is the material that all the jackets are made of. I'm going to get a leather suit for nights/colder riding, but for when its hot as hell I need something that won't give me a heat stroke.

It looks as if the FS offers better protection at a better price. However, the A* is made of mesh and will almost certainly be much more breathable. I think the FS is a solid textile weave, not mesh.

I have a couple of astars jackets and like them even in this texas heat, but you might want to try on one of the jackets from each brand if you are able to before you order one as it might influence your decision.

all of the Alpines are ugly. Go with fieldsheer.

I would go with Fieldsheer. Take a look at the Mach 4 jackets also if you want something for hotter weather.

You don't have any of the Mach series Fieldsheer jackets. They are the hot weather gear. Keep in mind everything other than leather is a "one crash" jacket usually.

Ive never even heard of the brand fieldsheer but after looking at some of the jackets and prices I like the style and that they have CE armor. How reliable is this brand?

Just ordered the mach 4 jacket and titanium pants from superstore, they both look like nice gear for the money. I think when it gets cooler I'm gunna look into leather suits.

I wear a Mach1 and Titanium air pants when it's warm. A Highland 1 piece when it's cold. Very happy with their gear.

I am also 6'2, I ordered the medium. Even if its a little short on me thats fine, most motorcycle jackets are... but they come down to where my pants start and that means nothing is exposed. I'm not trying to get something like a regular jacket where it comes down to where my pockets are, if it comes to my waists thats where I want it.

Have you seen pics of guys who crashed with t-shirts on? If they're like me, the leather WON'T be on during those really hot days, and mesh is better than nothing. Leather is better of course.
