I went up a moutian road tonight and found that I was smoother on the bike at about 7000 rpm vs less what do you guys drive around at. Whats safe for the bike. I just bought this 2001 honda CBR600 F4I and was wondering what RPMs are safe, best, funnest. I used to ride a cruiser before this so Im used to the lower rpms. Thanks

On my 150cc...

Well, without traffic, as fast as it can go, that is about 10-12k rpms (thats the higest the tach. goes).

I don't like the rpms being so high, but being a little 150cc engine you have to push it hard to get going.

I take it all the way to redline from stops, but cruise at 4500-5000 RPMs.

between 7-8 i like to keep my bike jus below its power band so if anything happens i have the power to get out of the way...plus i like the sound of my bike at that rpm...

Around 5K in town - The motor sounds good there, runs a little extra smooth, and that's right on the doorstep of peak TQ. 6K~9500 when thrashing backroads.

Your question was "what kind of RPMs do you cruise at?"..but, you state you were doing 7000 rpms up a mountian road.

I don't cruise on mountian roads, I cruise on the slab/highway.. With that said, on my gixxer I cruise at about 5000/5500 rpms, for a nice 75 mph on the slab. That gets me about 50 miles to a gallon too.

On the RC51, it is about the same, except I don't get that good gas mileage.
