Actually its the AWD Lambo and its not backing down. AWD means that it can put the power down faster than the Vette. The Vette no slouch though.
Looks to me like it was backing off the throttle quite often. It certainly wasn't going all out. And the Vette certainly wasn't losing any ground to it. Every time it pulled at all, the Vette was instantly right back on it's tail.

Also, for what it's worth, in that video the Lamborghini is being driven by a Lamborghini factory test driver...which means that he's driven the car more than probably anyone else on the planet. The ZR-1, on the other hand, is being driven by a journalist for Autocar...a good driver for sure, but not one that's had daily outings in the ZR-1. Let's make it more fair and put a ZR-1 test driver up against that Lamborghini with it's test driver in it.

I'd take a ZR-1 over any Lamborghini car any day of the week. Even the 670SV. The ZR-1 is going to cost, what, with premium pricing about $130k??? That Lamborghini is going to set you back at least $1.2 million. Retail is $1.1 and there's at least a 25% premium, from what I can tell, to just about everywhere in the world.

Its a scared Lambo. You can see that the Vette isnt reaching its potential power having to back down because the Lambo is backing down. Swap sides and see the Lambo get blown away.
Neither of them are hitting what either of the cars can do. The Lambo on the roads they were on with real drivers would pull away from the Vette because of the AWD and the fact it is lighter so it will grip the turns a lot better. On a track with more straights the Vette would have not problem keeping up or passing the Lambo.

We have yet to get a ZR1 in the shop I work at but there are a few on the streets around me. I have been out on the road with a Blacked out ZR1 car was awesome.

And let's not forget, the driver of the Vette is recording a friggin video for the review WHILE keeping up with the Lambo!

If I had my choice, I'd take the Lamborghini for sure... and promptly sell it to buy the ZR1, pay off my mortgage, pick up an MV Agusta, take my wife to Paris, etc. :)
