You can do it. A couple of us are coming from Vancouver - way more than 10 hrs to Portland. (Farther the better.)

I had a look at the fz1oa gather, and by their front page, it looks like about four participants last year. But a coast ride in August does sound good! Some of the camp grounds in south-central Oregon ("or-e-g'n") are wonderful and the views are spectacular. Non-campers can easily find B&B or hotels.

Hell - a weekend behind bars is always the best!

Actually, two of my buddies (a RoadStar Warrior and a VStrom1000) are up there right now, one rode from LA (~4K miles round trip) and the other from Houston, TX (~8K miles round trip) - I was supposed to go, but am still in Louisiana for another week. Basically I am jealous as snot that they went.
