Been driving my old 1989 Honda Accord for the past 12 years now, it's been an amazingly great car, hands down! But the roadsalt has definitely not been kind, and after 23 years and nearly 434k miles she's really starting to show her age. Still runs great but the body is rusting bad and starting to get lots of little things that will need attention. So I decided it was finally time to find something a little newer and nicer, and a little more practical for what I need now. With 3 dogs, it got a little crazy in the back seat of the Accord, so I needed something with a decent amount of space for them to be comfortable and not stepping all over each other. Also wanted something I could sleep in out of the weather at trackdays and whatnot... seats fold down flat so it's perfect. And also wanted something that could tow a trailer fairly easily, and this has plenty of power for my towing needs. And still gets decent MPG to boot! Still keeping the old Accord as more or less a back up incase something happens with my job or whatever and I've gotta ditch the payment and sell it, I've still got a set of wheels that nobody can take away

I work as a tech at a Ford dealership and noticed this out on our lot... '07 Edge SEL... clean as can be inside and out and obviously well cared for... it's literally spotless other than one small scratch on the top of the rear bumper. Worked a pretty dang good deal with them (pretty much at cost, which was almost $4k below NADA value, and OTD still almost $3k under). Signed my life away today and brought her home.... I think I'll be real happy with it. Only thing I wish was that it was manual trans, but oh well beggars can't be choosers, right?? lol. Does have pretty much everything else but navi though.... not bad. And being a Ford tech I know about whatever issues the different cars might have, and these have next to none (an occasional rear wheel bearing is about it).... very good, reliable cars. As much as I would have liked to stuck with Honda since they've always been so good to me, fact of the matter is for what I was looking for the newer Hondas were just way out of my price range. For what I got here I really couldn't beat it. Runs & drives like brand new!

Snapped a few pics before I left

Plenty of space for critters

Nice and simple.... I don't like overly complicated

Automatic A/C and heated seats

Not sure I'll ever use memory seats but oh well, lol

Steering wheel controls are nice

Has the big Vista roof too which I really like

Lowest mileage car I've had in a looooong time, lol

3.5L V6 (the same one they're using in evvvverything now, including the EcoBoost)... plenty for what I need it for, and still gets decent mileage

Sorry for so many pics, just excited to finally actually have something nice, lol. I think I'll be quite happy with it... already a few small mods planned! haha (getting rid of all the chrome... front grille and foglight bezels will be painted to match for a monochrome look, some interior LED's and change the instrument cluster color with some brighter LED's, smoked headlights and maybe taillights from the '09-10 sport models, factory navi, etc..... all in due time though, just future plans)

is that the same motor in the F-150?
it looks like it.

I love the dash in the new trucks. it's almost like yours but yours is missing the info center in the middle with the LCD display. I thought it was cool to see a quick ford commercial when you start it up. lol
but the blue lighting is what I like the most. that red and green is ugly.

and I feel sorry for you when that thing needs plugs. looks like the intake has to come off. ford is not thinking past their nose on a design like that.

I didn't know the edge came with a turbo'd V6 mill. It'd be news to me if it did. that sure ain't a 5.4, so I'm assuming you're refencing the turbo mill.

Nice upgrade man. I too can vouch for the stayingpower of the old accords. my mum, boss, and 2 former coworkers all had 88-90 accords, and they all talk about how awesome they were.
if I could live without a truck, I'd get one. I still seriously considered a clean B16 civic this summer.

we have a newer f-150 with a v6 at our impound lot. it's not turbo I looked really hard to find it. lol

according to ford the 3.7l v6 in the f-150 is the standard now. it still has 302hp without a turbo.

hm, did not know ford even still used a non turbo V6....

I suppose it's for the real base model. . . although I'd probably not bother with it. if I have the dime for a new truck, I'm probably gonna go with the 5.7/5.4/6.2/5.3 option from one of the big 3.

I'm holding out on the judgment of the ecoboost as a reliable mill (when driven like a diesel, as it should be driven) until it ages a bit. it's not that I think it's not possible for it to be dead nuts reliable, it's that there are inevitably things to be worked out when something akin to that is introduced.

I'm still waiting for Dodge and Chev to respond. the 5.7 and 6.2 are good mills, to be sure.
but neither of them are going to outdo the little turbo tech that ford has. Turbos just rock that much if they are built reliably.

ford doesn't offer anything other than a 3.7L v6 5.0 v8 is the standard engines. you have to move up to the really nice trucks like the platinum edition to get a 6.2L or the raptor.

they don't still offer the 5.4?

man, I'm fuckin out of date on engine options. . .

I'll take yer word on it I suppose. I dislike ford's massively excessive multi tiered trim levels. . .christ. not to mention that some trims exclude options that others have and vice versa. . .confusing as hell.

Dodge. . .I like Dodge.
"ya get EVERYTHING it comes with, for this price"

wham, bam, thankye ma'am.

that said, I was mostly citing the current offerings from Chev and Dodge. Chev has the 6.2 in the silverado, or so I thought (alongside the 6 and the 5.3) and dodge has the 5.7.

but hell, I could be wrong about chevy offering the 6.2 in trucks as well.

looks like all they have to choose from is the 3.7, 5.0, the ecoboost, and a 6.2
and the 6.7 power stroke diesel for the super duty trucks.

yes, the 6.7 and it's plstic intake and oil pan.

it has some interesting tech, with the flipped heads and whatnot, but I'm not convinced it's the awesome thing it is made out to be yet either.

still take an unrestricted 6.7 cummins over it, mainly because you can still get a manual cummins.

Congrats!

Had you not mentioned, I would have been under the impression that it is new. I don't think pre-owned examples can get better than this. Your pets loving the new ride?

Very nice. Not a Ford guy but the brand is growing on me. I have an '88 CRX Si for my daily driver. It's my fourth CRX. Except for an 04 Aveo, I've had nothing but Honda, for cars anyway, since 1989. Had an '85 CRX HF that was rusting apart like your Accord but got rear ended in it around two years ago so that was that. Barring anything unforseen I plan on getting at least 300k out of this one. Hope your dogs like the new ride!
