I was reading the specs on the r6 and noticed it is a LOT lighter (75 lbs)?

what causes all the extra weight in the fz6?

i mean we have the same engine, same wheels, a better frame (no welds at least) we dont have all the adjustable suspension.....so where is it?

if I recall correctly, the r6 has different cams which may take a few pounds off, along with a smaller gas tank. it also seems to be smaller both in length and height, plus may use more alloy in its construction. :dunno

In addition to krushchev's comments, I am guessing additional weight on the FZ6 comes from the link-arm, frame, center stand.

There were reports of the GSXR having a relatively fragile frame as evident from numerous reports of cracked welds. My guess there, the engineers got the frame wall down to a minimum thickness to further lighten up that very fast bike. Conversely, the FZ6 being sport/touring, should have a beefier frame and components (in theory) with added weight.
