I mean I like sportbikes, I love them, but I'm moreso a fan of streetbikes which there aren't enough of in the states in my opinion. For instance, I can almost bet you we will never see any of these bikes over here and I don't really know why? market study? I guess they figure people in the states ride moreso for fun instead of also primarily for true and honest transportation so we wouldn't want a plain jane streetbike and instead would opt for a full on sportbike? I dunno, now I'm just generalizing.

From Honda alone you have the CBF600S, CBF600N, CB1300S Bol D'or, CB1300 Super Four, and the beautiful CB1000. /End rant.

Yep, those are cool. Especially the last one.

It's been a long time, though, since any higher-end standard sold much here. Smaller commuter bikes can do OK, but for the great majority of Anericans, a bike is a toy, not a practical mode of transport, and so people here mostly buy bikes for fun.

I just don't understand how seemingly all of the U.S. population can have such a distaste for "naked" bikes? Now I'm not saying they're for everyone obviously.

I once had a guy look at me when I was riding up to a parking space and then look at my bike and start laughing. I met the guy once and this time I was fully geared and on my new bike and the last bike he saw me on was my old EX500 so he didn't know it was me. Well I asked my pal who is sadly actually friends with the guy to ask him what his problem was and what was so damn funny, well my friend did just that and he told me he was laughing because my bike looked so "wierd" with just a half fairing and nothing else. I was like wtf? this guy rides a slammed, stretched, and yes, chromed GSX-R 750. Now I'm not worried about his opinion of what I ride, I was just dumbfounded by his reaction to my bike lol

4 out of the 5 you posted I see the FZ6, 599, bandit-gen1 FZ1 & 919, I personally like the naked much better then the race replicas
From first to last you have the:

CBF600S

CBF600N

CB1300S Bol D'or

CB1300 SuperFour

Or are you saying you say those bikes within the ones I posted?
and the CB1000

those all look like 500 lb+ bikes which immediately turns me off. my bike is comfy enough for me to ride as long as i like, the fairings provide OK wind protection and its easier to wipe off the plastics than try to clean in all the nooks and crannies of a naked bike

My kingdom for a CB1300 or an updated ZRX1200. I've often wondered why the 'Rex was dropped given it's cult following. I would love to see one with a ZX12/14 motor, better swinger/shocks, and ZX9/12 front end.
like this, minus the lame tail:

Weight brings stability and is usually countered with gobs of torque....something a strictly-600 rider will never understand.

+1 My ZZR600 makes for an awesome touring bike, if it had a comfier seat i could ride it forever. When its cold out i love being able to hide begind my wind screen, and i can also go on a blast through some twisties. If they were to come out with something similar and FI so it was low maintenance i bet it would sell really well

I definitely like the looks of the CBF600S, kinda like my FZ6, but better. Couple of nice things going on for the CBF600S: adjustable preload front & rear, adjustable seat, adjustable windshield, ABS, good mpg. A little surprised to see only 77hp, but it looks like the powerband is down in a reasonable rpm range. Now if they would only put the exhaust under the seat where it belongs...

:rolleyes
i'm only 5'7" 135 lbs so having a bike that i couldn't back out of my own garage doesn't appeal to me. i can understand that you wouldn't want the kind of power a ZX14 or hayabusa makes in a 400 lb bike, but for a standard like those pictured, there is no need for it to be overweight

Streetbike over a sportbike?

ANY day (but that's just me)!

When I went to Paris last year, I saw so many streetbikes that REALLY need to be imported to the States.
