So my last sport touring ride ended up as a shower, and everyone's gear got drenched.

Aside from the fact that the TM Caliber pants are *not* waterproof despite the fact they advertise them as being :twofinger, I found that gloves were the biggest pain. Gloves add bulk just wearing them, but add wet and cold and it makes for little dexterity and lots of aggravation.

One thing I found is that water actually ran down my jacket sleeves in the heavier downpours, and under the gauntlet of my gloves, then on down into the fingers. I tried putting the gloves on, then the jacket but the gloves were too bulky to fit through the wrist holes (the gloves were insulated, so a decent bit of bulk). I don't see how you could get around that problem even with waterproof gloves. How do you keep water from running down your arms into the gloves?

I am thinking of just buying thin neoprene gloves and wearing them as liners. If nothing else, they should keep the damp away, and add some warmth...

I got an ad from Newenough.com for some Held waterproof that looked pretty nice. Maybe someone has tried those?

I've ridden in the rain a lot and I agree that heavy wet gloves really do suck for a lot of reasons. My fancy BMW winter gloves are great in rain, for about 10 minutes, then they soak up about a gallon each - turns out they aren't waterproof. I guess they haven't been in Texas in the winter.

These days I only ride the GS if it's going to rain and it has heated grips that get nice and toasty. I've found that wearing lighter gloves and just letting them get soaked, but warmed by the grips, is my best solution. When the rain stops they dry out in a couple of minutes. Crappy solution I know but until I hear about some gloves that really work I'll live with it.

I have a pair of waterproof gloves, which keep the water out very well. I have riddeon for about an hour in a downpour and my hands stay perfectly dry. I did not have the problem of water running into my gauntlet because I just wore frogg toggs over my leather jacket. The gauntlet was outside my jacket, and the frogg togg jacket was over my glove. Nice and dry.

These are the gloves I have.

They are not the best quality (just look at the price), but they keep the water out and are relatively warm for winter. It seams as though any waterproof glove would keep the water out of you put your rain gear on the outside of it, though.

I've been itching to try these...

Thermosport Gloves - British Motorcycle Gear

Friend of mine was working in Germany, and ended up picking up a bike to ride while he was there (year or so). Co worker (who rides) gave him these gloves told him to try 'em. He loves 'em.

If anyone would know about riding in wet nasty weather...I guess the Brits would be right up there.
