So my last sport touring ride ended up as a shower, and everyone's gear got drenched.
Aside from the fact that the TM Caliber pants are *not* waterproof despite the fact they advertise them as being :twofinger, I found that gloves were the biggest pain. Gloves add bulk just wearing them, but add wet and cold and it makes for little dexterity and lots of aggravation.
One thing I found is that water actually ran down my jacket sleeves in the heavier downpours, and under the gauntlet of my gloves, then on down into the fingers. I tried putting the gloves on, then the jacket but the gloves were too bulky to fit through the wrist holes (the gloves were insulated, so a decent bit of bulk). I don't see how you could get around that problem even with waterproof gloves. How do you keep water from running down your arms into the gloves?
I am thinking of just buying thin neoprene gloves and wearing them as liners. If nothing else, they should keep the damp away, and add some warmth...
