I tried on a Shoei earlier and it was really nice. I almost bought it but I wasn't really thrilled with the graphics/price so I decided to wait. One was 440 and the other was 400. So in that price range is the Vemar VSR which seems to be pretty nice. Anyone have opnions on the two and which would they go with? I was looking at helmetharbor for pricing too. Im a large witht he Shoei vs an XXL with HJC. Is that strange?

Yeah, that seems a little strange since I wear a large in both brands.

When youi try on helmets, you have to spend some time with it. Once you find a model/size that feels right, leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Different models fit different shaped heads better than others. Fasten the chin strap and try to move the chin guard up/down and side-to-side. The helmet should move just a little on your head. After leaving the helmet on for 15 minutes, it should still feel snug but not too tight with no pressure points that hurt. Take it off and look in the mirror. You shouldn't see any red marks on your head.

I think it's helmetharbor that has all of the sizing charts. They all include a head measurement in inches or cm's. Compare the charts for models/sizes you're considering. It does seem odd that one brand's large fits you as does another brand's XXL. I suspect that one really didn't fit right (head shape).

$400 for a Shoei? which model helmet are you looking at? I saw a RF-1000 for $269, it seems to be a decent helmet and the price is right.
