According to the article, it's the end of 2010. And Philip Morris wants to buy out the 2010 contract, so he can ride for Ducati in 2010.

Oh, ok. Didn't read the whole thing, but almost. Hmm

I know they Rossi has been interested in racing with a Italian company for sometime. And of course Ducati is the only option. He also talked to Ducati in trying to decide if he would to go Yamaha or Ducati after dropping Honda. I don't think he would go back to Honda, unless they offered him a LOT of money.

My best guess, he'll go to Ducati. Stay with them for a couple years, then retire.

Yes, Rossi is under contract through the '10 season, just like Lorenzo, Stoner, Hayden and Pedrosa. If Phillip Morris wanted to buy out Rossi's contract to put him on a Ducati, they would also have to buy out Stoner or Hayden's contract to open up a seat.

Rossi's pissed because Yamaha signed Lorenzo after a deadline? Are they insane?! Yamaha sets the deadlines if there are any. Usually, the teams want to have their riders signed by a certain time so they know where they stand for the test the day after Valencia and can be prepared. Now with limited test rules, there is no room for missing a date. The bikes don't just materialize out of thin air, it takes time to build them.

Also, Yamaha wanted Lorenzo bad enough that they would and could wait a couple of extra weeks for the decision to be made. Since he wouldn't be a new rider, they knew what they had when building a new bike for him.

It's well known that Rossi doesn't like Lorenzo. He's openly stated he'll ride for another 5 years just to keep Lorenzo from winning the championship.

I doubt he'd ever go back to Honda. The bosses are gone, but the culture is still the same. He left not because Yamaha had the better equipment, but because Honda had screwed with him and he wanted to make them pay. Honda later screwed Nicky to benefit the midget and we all see how that's paid off.

Wherever he goes you can bet it will become a better team. I thought Spies was going to a support squad?? I am surprised Rossi is upset about this. Hey, he can always come to WSBK!!!
Spies is going to a support team - Tech3, but possibly with the same equipment as Rossi and Lorenzo. That remains to be seen. I haven't seen anything anywhere else that says Rossi was pissed with Yamaha moving Spies to Tech3. If anything, it's been positive.

The team did set the deadline. The Czech GP. But they signed him 2 weeks after.

And what's to stop Ducati from moving Hayden to some tech team?
A funny little thing called a contract. And before you go on about Spies, his "contract" was to go to Tech3 right from the start. Yamaha couldn't announce it while they were still negotiating with Toseland.

They apparently wanted Lorenzo, didn't they? Like I said, they had a couple of weeks to play with since they already knew what they had in Lorenzo as far as building his new bike.

Like I said though, I haven't heard of this anywhere else and I follow several racing outlets for news.

Biaggi and Rossi would make a great 2010 aprilia WSBK effort! :banana :D

He won his first Championship on an aprilia. :)

doesnt matter if he wants to go to another team or not. It ALL depends on burgess. I seriously doubt burgess will want to go and start all over. If he wins the championship this year im sure he'll stick with yamaha.

This.

Also, Rossi developed the bike that Jorge is riding. He doesn't like the disrespect he received.
