I have a '96 Suzuki RF600 and I've had a problem with it slipping out of 2nd gear. Its usually only does it when I am not under hard acceleration. I am really confused because sometimes it will slip into neutral but other times it will slip into 3rd and once 4th. Any help would be great.

I'd say a bent shift fork. Good news is the part is real cheap. Bad news is if you can't do it yourself, it'll cost ya in labor.

My advice, get an expert to diagnose and make sure the fork's the problem. Then buy the parts and do it yourself.

Oh its surgery for sure. You have to split the cases. If your comfortable with that you'll be ok. I will tell you though, if it jumps out of gear there is more damage. Do yourself a favor and no matter who splits the cases, send the tranny to R&D Transmissions and have him weld and undercut the whole tranny. Replace the shift forks (all three) and the shift drum. All the parts take a beating when one fails so dont fall into the cheapie trap or you WILL be doing it again.

i was thinking of just giving that whole motor a good rebuild, so it was probably gonna come out this winter anyways. i've dumped enough money in it already to justify keeping this bike for a long time so it might as well run like a champ.

easy hop up is to just bolt the gsxr100w motor into it. might need to do a little cuttin and welding but not much if any. then get a set of canadian 1100 crabs (40mm cv's) or some flatslides 40mm mikuni-$600 and you'll have one hell of a sleeper!!!! With the flatslides and cam timing that thing will make 155 to the back wheel all day!
