The mid-90s CRs can be a PITA to start cold. The is due, I'm told, to the fact that the enrichener (choke) circuits in the carb are insufficient, once engines start to have 'less than perfect' compression, scavenging, etc. I've owned 2 mid 90's (92 and a 95) CR, and I got this admittedly witch-doctor procedure from somewhere and it works great for me, and everyone else I've told it to. I'll also say that this is for cold starting. Hot starting is just a kick and off you go. Without further ado:
1. bike standing upright, fuel valve on, allow carb to fill up
2.tip bike over enough to see fuel spilling out of vent lines
3. bring bike back upright
4. turn fuel valve off
5. kick it over slowly 2-3 times
6. enrichener (choke) on
7. kick it like it owes you money.
8. choke off as soon as she'll run without it
9. ride it like you stole it
yeah I know, strange. Try it, it might work for ya.:cheers
