Tickets. How bad is it out there?

Do you get cited for going faster than the traffic. 10 faster, 20 faster?

You don't get cited for going Xmph faster than traffic, its Xmph over the SPEED LIMIT. The freeways round here (I see you are close) seem to have average speeds of 75 or so when traffic isn't horrible. Every time I go through Rancho I am pretty careful not to go too much faster than the limit on the streets, because around there I seem to see a lot of cops.

I got a warning about 6 months ago for 20+ over the limit, but other than that it's been years since I've had a ticket. The last three times I've been pulled over I've just been given a warning...I'll probably jinx myself by writing this.

In general, I see proportionally fewer bikes pulled over than cars. It's all about not being the stand-out vehicle the same as in a cage. It is easier to weave through traffic on a bike so you have to make sure that you don't appear to be the stand-out unsafely moving faster than traffic.

I hate bikers!! I write as many tickets as possible!!! Damn kids and their loud ass pipes, cutting through traffic, flying down the road like they are on a race track with hidden tags!!!

Other than one time in Japan when I was in an area that was restricted from bikes I have never been pulled over on a bike. One type in the USA a bike cop nailed me with his radar, shook his finger and then gave me the "slow down" wave.

By in large, the cops are pretty good to us unless a rider is in the wrong place (a place where there have been complaints from the public) or are generally riding like assholes.

Don't move to my g#d D^mn neighborhood with the California Highway Patrol right down the street. Unreal. Tickets -stops - bull sheet - ALL the TIME. It is like Nazi Germany around here.

Okay, that didn't work -I STILL don't feel better.:(

Isn't it unsafe for cops to try pulling bikers over and thus, they don't even bother?

Re

In washington, if you are going the speed limit, it will appear that you are doing 90 because this place is full of commie retards that drive 45 mph on the freeway. Really.

It is unsafe for a cop to pull anyone over, but that does not stop them. There are some major differences in pulling a bike versus a car, but most officers seek out bikers. Our reputation as sportbikers is terrible and I am not saying all riders, but the few have given all a bad name. Cops will often harass bikers, because they tried to pull one and they ran, or just riding like general assholes. I have an officer in my department that can not stand sportbikers. I have been trying to get to the root of his dislikes and attempt to educate him, but thus far I have been unsuccessful. A few things that he targets are bent tags, hidden tags, no tags. He thinks they are all runners and harasses them every chance he gets, but will often find a reason just to stop the bike and check it out even if everything is stock. There is no secret that it is very hard for police to catch a biker. I don't encourage running, because all it takes is one person, animal or some gravel, and your speeding ticket just turned deadly.

If you can't afford to pay, then keep your playing to a min.

I get pulled over once a week, always for bullshit reasons.

It sucks, but why risk your life and freedom to run from what is essentially an annoyance. We have a shitty reputation with cops and a lot of it is deserved. I have NEVER been on a non-sportbike motor vehicl forum, personally where the question of running from the cops has EVER been brought up. It's only with sportbikers and it makes us all look like assholes.

Not to mention, it's not really that smart to post about how you ran, because police officers (ones from your area that have maybe just lost a runner, for instance) read these things.

The guy has no idea how to run. He's just cruising down main streets. Even on that harley if he had used the explosive power of the bike and turned down streets using the ability to accelrate below 80 much faster then the car he could have run much more safely, with out blowing red lights, nearly hitting cars pulling outta parking lots and would have gotten away. Heres a better one of how easy it is. Just don't get stupid.

I have not had a ticket since 1988 and that night was a mess of 9 tickets issued . got 8 dropped but the 1 left was reckless driving and 6 months suspension of license ,fine was $175....Doing a wheelie at 4am down what i thought was a deserted main street at 75mph...cop hiding in the back of church parking lot....

yeah i just had to go to court on tuesday for a reckless driving ticket. i got clocked at doing 106 in a 50 zone. i dont know if the cop that pulled me over was having a bad day or just didnt like sportbikes but either way it taught me to slow down. the fine was $212 and i got my license suspended for 90 days. i would've been much worse if i woulda ran.
