Last Thurs. evening, I had a pidgeon fly into the A-pillar of my truck. It actualy made me flinch even though I saw it coming.

Friday night (actually about 4:30 Sat morning) I had a skunk dart out of the ditch in front of my bike (1 dead skunk, 1 puckered sphincter).

Then today on my way to work (with my son on the back), I came upon a turkey vulture munching on Friday's skunk. He decided to jump and fly right in front of me when I got to about 10' from him. If I hadn't slowed to about 20mph, I probably would have collected him too.

My son thought the vulture was cool though.

I'm hoping this trend stops, because I'm doing too much riding late at night to have this continually happening.

In the past week I've dodged one dead armadillo, one live one, one buzzard, and a gopher turtle.

Although I do see deer nearly every night on my way home, I just ride at about 40mph and honk my horn every so often. The only time I've hit one was in my miata.

It's getting to the time of year when Bambi and his relations get a lot more active too, so be extremely cautious. Drivers of cars I can deal with, mostly... Just pretend every last one of them is out to get me. Deer are so unpredictable that they're dangerous. I've been hunting for over 20 years and spend a great deal of time in the woods and I have no idea what they're going to do when they're spooked.
