The 2016 MotoGP Season kicks off this week with practice for the first race in Qatar on Sunday. The last championship ended on a sour note. It doesn't look like the ill feelings between the riders has eased any. There are a host of rule changes that we will see this year. We also have new tires and new electronics for everyone. This year also promises to have one of the silliest of silly seasons with almost everyone's contracts up. Will Rossi continue to race? Will Lorenzo stay at Yamaha? How will the Ducatis fare? Will they keep their riders or make a changeup? The same questions go for Suzuki. What about the prospect of KTM on next year's horizon? How will Dani Pedrosa fare? Will he stay at Repsol or move on to another team? How will the Rossi/Marquez/Lorenzo friction play out?

With the season upon us it is time to start the 2016 MotoGP Season thread.

It's been kind of dead in here. Hopefully with all the questions and drama, more conversation will come about.

I get the logic but i would think that this soon after Simoncelli they would be clamping down to stop that kind of incident, not setting the rules up so that it will go unpunished.

After the bullshit from last season, I doubt I'll be watching this sport anymore... Seriously. I appreciate you taking the time to keep the thread(s) updated though, Max. You're a stand-up guy.

Max, just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to you for keeping us posted about the latest MotoGP news (and for doing that for a few years now). While I don't post a whole lot anymore your threads are the only reason I keep on visiting this forum at all. I'm sure I'm not the only silent reader these days. To be honest I think your MotoGP-related contribution is one of the main things that keeps this forum alive. Anyway, just wanted you to know we silent creepers do appreciate your effort!

I hear ya. I haven't renewed my motogp pass after paying for it 7 years in a row. It's pissing me off cos I am curious to see how the season develops and to enjoy what will hopefully be some close racing but at the same time I do want to do my part in expressing how ridiculously the whole penalty thing was handled last year (especially after they decided change the rules in that regard for the 2016 season). So yeah, kinda torn here - if I had more time to spare I'd fucking torrent this shit. Best of both worlds - don't give these assholes my cash anymore as a token of my disagreement with their BS and still enjoy the racing. Unfortunately I'm too old for wasting time on torrent hunting now ..

with lorenzo on pole, i doubt rossi will ever get near him.

Plus lorenzo and marquez have taken up rent free living in the paranoia section of rossi's brain.

I was hoping after the end of last season that rossi would recover, but it seams he's becoming more like lorenzo.

I don't know. I think that Rossi getting a contract before him will be heavily in JLo's mind. It will also be interesting to see what the young Maverick and Ducatis pull out.
