Finally the 2014 Season is upon us. Time to start the 2014 season thread.

The season is looking to be quite interesting. The drama with the Open Ducati and related rule changes. The announcement of 2016 spec ECU for all MotoGP entries. Honda's prior indication that they may leave over the stock ECU.

We in for a treat during this years silly season as most of the riders' contracts are up. What will the future hold for them?

For the racing, Rossi seems to be closer to his form. Jorge struggled at Sepang, but came back a Philip Island. Marquez may be less than 100% at the opener due to his leg break. This is shaping up to be another exciting season.

Marquez doesn't have to win, scoring points would be a huge help.

He could well be right. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.Honestly, having different bikes running differing set ups subject to different rules and allowances all running together still seems like a huge cluster *uck to me.Even to the fans to figure out on the fly who's where and legit relatively speaking and who's rules will change based on results for next race etc.:blink

Aleix was doing similar trap speeds to Hayden's honda the last I saw. I'm a huge Rossi fan but I'm unsure how I feel about him complaining about how slow the bike feels down the straight...

Aleix is hitting ~325. Factory yams around 335, Hondas 338-340. It's crazy the ducatis are going nearly 20kmh faster down the straight than the Forward Yamaha.

There is clearly something going on here. Neither Rossi nor Lorenzo are anywhere near where you would expect the factory team to be. Aleix is killing it, for sure. JLo is clearly a buttery smooth edge rider and the tires are upsetting that. What is hampering Rossi? That remains to be seen. The pre-season tests really don't match the results we are seeing here.

The question is, what did Forward find that the factory hasn't.
