I just completed this school this past weekend. It was a blast. Did the class at gratten raceway in michigan. I can now apply for a provisional race license. I am very interested in doing some endurance races this year.

I personally know 3 racers that were there, 1 was an instructor. I raced at Gratten in the late 90's, challenging layout but the surface was in dire need of improvement, from what I heard that's still the case. What's your opinion of the track itself (layout and surface)?

So what organization(s) are you planning on racing with, I would guess WERA or CCS?

Grattan is great... granted the number of tracks I've ridden is limited, but it is my favorite of the ones I've been to.

I have no complaints about the surface (unless it has gotten worse since last fall). There were a few bumpy spots but it wasnt in an area that was bad. I'm sure it could use a repave, but its still an awesome track.

and the layout is great too ... backwards is also a good time, even if my bike did catch on fire the day I got to try it that way..

The track layout is pretty challenging. The surface looks worse than it really is. There are some spots that could use work but overall I love that track. I am planning on racing wera but may try ccs as well. I just need to find somebody to show me the ropes as far as the racing side goes.

My instructer was Chris Onwiler. He is an older kinda rounder guy. He was awsome. He was so enthusiastic to teach. He made the day fun. He also wrote a book called Highside or something like that. Looked like a good book to read.

Chris is the person I was refering to as being an instructor at that event, we know each other mainly thru the racing org's message board, but we also sat at the same table at the CCS awards banquet a couple months ago with my buddy MJ. Ike is the other racer I know that was there, all of those guys are great people (actually, most racers are! :) ).
