How many members take their kids riding with them? I have a 12 year old girl that loves to ride with me. Two weeks ago I took her to the mountains in NC and we had a blast. She was on the bike for a 10 hour day and never said she was tired or ready to go home. I asked her what road she liked best and it was 129 at the Gap. Maybe one day we could have a bring your kid along ride.

Very cool. I've had my daughter on the tank in front of me starting at 2. We would just go around the block in my housing devlopement though. I started taking her out the street after she could touch the pegs with her feet in the passanger seat. Only problem I have now is she falls alseep on me on a longer jaunt out and about. She is 8 and 1/2 now.

No kids yet, but when I do, I hope one day they would want to ride as well. I would teach them at a young age, probably in the dirt first... Very cool that she likes to ride

Mine is 5 now, and she loves riding. She started at about 2 sitting on the front of my seat with me. Now that shes a little older she can just barely touch the rear pegs and she can sit on the back seat, but doesnt like to. This is all in my subdivision of course.

At what age would you start teaching how to ride? I would think a little 50 in the back yard at about age 5-6 would be good, no?

Both my girls were riding their little motorcycles before they were riding their bikes. They were both 5 when I started to let them ride dirt bikes. They still love it and I heard that my older daughter told someone at soccer practice the other night that she was going to get one of those sport bikes.

my two daughters will not dare - have absolutely NO interest at all. My son has ridden for short rides and short rides only... still skiddish and though he liked it - it is not on his list of things to ask dad to do.

I put my Grandson on my zx9r at 3 days old, layed him on the tank and fired her up. The boy didnt move. At 3 months i was riding him down the sidewalk on the Maurder, at 18 months the boy was climbing up on the to kawis and starting them. So now i have to cover them or take the keys out in the garage. He is 2.5 now and everytime i go to leave and he is in the garage he will grab his helmet and i have to ride him around the block. I usually ride him on the zx14 or the gsxr600 but if you ask him which one is his he points to the red zx9r. I guess you never get over that first sportsbike ride.
My granddaughter (big mama) will sit on them but if you start it she will bail off, She doesnt like them. I guess it will be a Barbie Vette for her.

Hey man!! Sounds like I'll start seeing a new cycle coming into and leaving the neighborhood in about 4yrs..If everything goes good we hope to have a new scoot in the driveway soon.. Maybe the next time you take the trip we could tag along, as long as you promise to wait up..:cheers

All awesome stories guys! My little guy just turned 1 yesterday and I can't wait until I can get him on two wheels. I just hope the lame 50cc ban is gone by the time he's 3. Kid likes to go fast too. I was pushing him down the sidewalk in his Cozy Coupe the other day and he just kept rocking back and forth trying to go faster. I had to sprint down the street pushing him full speed. Stayed calm as a cucumber in that loud shaky POS! Proud papa moment, good workout for me.

When my daughter was 6 or 7 I started picking her up from school on the TL1000R. We just live around the corner from the school ( which is why I have to pick her up ). She loved all the attention, and she even got to rock-out "mom's pink helmet".

She never was big enough to take on a longer ride. I think the longest we went was like 5 miles to grandma's house.

If I had something a little bit more "cruiser", I'd take her out on it all the time.

Both my kids rode with me. My son has since bought a Ninja 500 that we have a blast riding together and my daughter still loves to ride with me even though she's driving her own vehicle now. One of the best times my son and I had was taking the rider course together. I don't worry as much especially since he's off at college now.
