Let me set up the scenario. There's this nice one-lane in each direction road that runs (essentially) along the Delaware cost (the Delaware River and eventually the Atlantic Ocean) called Route 9. It meanders through some 25 mph towns but is most 50.
I was on my way home last night. We had just gone through one of the 25 mph towns. The speed wasn't 35 yet (and we had just gone past a 25 sign too). I see this guy in the pick up behind me waaaay right - about halfway onto the shoulder (that should have been my first clue). We just pass the 35 mph sign with the 50 about a half mile up the road. As I know cops sit in these areas sometime (too bad it wasn't last night) I like to abide by the law there. So guess what this @sshole does (before we reach he 50)?? He passes me. But that's not what the problem is: he passed me on the RIGHT!! Yes, I said RIGHT. On the shoulder!! :upyours Damn idiot. I did get his Maryland license plate number 76M-458 or 76M-548.
The "funny" thing about it is, about five miles up the road, guess who is sitting next to this guy at a traffic light (and I maintained my 55 mph crusing speed almost the whole time too)?!!? :pisson
Sorry, just had to vent a moment.... back to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

There is no way that damage was from a drop. Oh wait, sorry, wrong answer - avitar distraction again.... :banana
Anyway, I should have just cautiously pulled over and let the goober idiot go by. If I sped up, he would have. Then I would have had a similar problem with an @sshole behind me, but at a higher speed.

How can you pull over when the idiot is driving on the shoulder beside you?

I should have pulled over sooner (when I saw him wide sweep the first time) and let him go so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Most morons don't bother me too much, but I just had a feeling about this goomba (and it turns out I was right). Too bad the same instincts don't apply to my lottery playing.

nothing worse than a bad driver to scare the shit out of a law abiding rider.

im not too law abiding but on the way home form work thursday (the beginning of dickhead season here in west australia as easter friday-monday are pub holidays and our road tolls increase dramatically for this 4 days) i was travelling on in the left hand lane in a dual lane freeway (remember we ride/drive in the left lane here)

looking at the people in the right hand lane (going same direction) i notice a guys head start looking around, i can see his face in the passenger side mirror and also see he isnt paying attention tot he contents of my lane.

i slow down and try to get back enough his car isnt an issue, all too slowly sadly, i get pushed (no contact) into an off road and had to take a different route home (traffic behind also choosing to use the off ramp, unlike me who HAD to use it)

already on the local bike forums i am hearing of some hideous happenings and a scary start to the easter road toll...

all of you be safe and keep your head straight over easter when riding/driving
