Hi! I am a new rider shopping for gears. I am pretty set on a Joe Rocket Blaster 2.0 pref. jacket, but I am having trouble picking the appropriate gloves. I am looking at the Joe Rocket Reactor or the Supermotor. I am hoping you guys can give me some advice as to which of them to go with, or if there are better gloves out there!

Thank you! I am looking to wear this pair of gloves all season, but I am more afraid of hot weather than cold. :)

i bought the alpinestars s-mx air carbon gloves, they're really nice. the knuckles are carbon fiber, its got plenty of leather protection where you need it, then mesh between the fingers to keep your hands cool. they also look great. if i remember right they were'nt even $50, check out kneedraggers.com. and oh yeah, i just bought the same jacket too, the blaster.

What's up Pup? Welcome to the site and the sport. Personally I wear Spidi v-race gloves and absolutely love them. I ride pretty much all year with them and in Florida summer they are still comfortable. I ordered these of the net and completely lucked out. I have heard people (squids) complain about wearing gloves because they find them "restricting" but I have no complaints. Good luck with shopping and wise choice to gear up. Later.

Neither the Reactor nor Supermoto offer much protection. They aren't long enough and don't have the best abrasion resistance. Look for a full leather glove with gauntlets (cuffs) that will go over your jacket sleeve. Otherwise, as you slide down the road, the gloves and jacket will separate and expose skin. I know it's not a pretty thought, but get gear that will protect you in a get-off.

There are plenty of models like this (including Joe Rocket) that are ventilated in some way to reduce heat in the summer.

I would recommend the Spidi Sport Vent gloves. I've read fantastic things about their protective quality as well as the fact they actually vent pretty good.

I've worn A* GP Pros (2005 version) and my Dainese full gauntlet ones in up to 85 degree weather. You get a little warm, but nothing horrible.

I have a pair of Frank Thomas roo hide ones that are really comfy, offer good protection, and are very well vented. Roo hide is supposed to be superior to cow leather as far as abrasion goes. They're just too vented and thin for the winter.

So many choices out there! *head spins*

I really like the:
Teknic Lightning Pro
Spidi Sport Vent
Teknic Violators

The Lightning Pro being the cheapest. Is there any big difference between the three? They all look really hot during the summer, any experience with the venting and how well they hold up to sweat and moisture?

Thanks!!! Almost there...

Yep, there are many choices. Of the three you mentioned, I like the Spidi Sport Vent the best especially if you're concerned with them being too warm in the summer. With proper care, good gloves will last a few years. Sweat and weather take their toll on the leather.

Bear in mind that vented gloves (or anything else for that matter) will be cold in the winter. You may end up with gear for summer and other gear for as much of the rest of the year as you care to ride. Here it's pretty much year-round, but I definitely have summer and winter gloves. :)

Welcome to SBN! :twofinger :welcome

I would recommend getting a pair of short gloves that vent well for hot weather. However, I find myself using my gauntlet-style gloves more often than not.

I got these and they seem pretty good. Took a few rides to break them in but they fit good now. The vents work pretty well also. Only problem I had with them was with my long fingers the vents hit right on my middle knuceles and first few rides and had soar fingers till they streched out now they are perfect.

I got the same jacket Joe ROcket Blaster 2.0 perf and it really breaths so much so that i have to save it for summer since I ride at around midnight to go home from work and it is in the 40-50's at night to cold for all the air coming through so where my old thick lined leather jacket till it warms up some more at night.

Are you sure? I got mine for like 124 at newegg with shipping (which was only like 5 bucks or something)
Newegg is selling motorcycle gear now? Sweet! :lao

Both the Alpinestars GP Plus and the Spidi Sport Vent are $100+, I guess in order to get good gloves, I should be looking in that range.
Yep, unfortunately. Good gear costs more.

check out the gloves at motoport.com . They aren't big on fancy carbon knuckles or engraved titanium bling plates but they're handmade in the USA from good quality materials. You fax them a tracing of your hand and they fit them to your size. Very reasonably priced too.

I just bought a pair of the Icon MERC gloves for $75 from Tricktape... Carbon fiber knuckles, full gauntlet protection...
They seem pretty good for the price. Does anyone have long term use with them and can offer some insight?
