Hello All,

I have a 2002 F4I with about 3000 miles on it that is giving me some trouble. Rattle trouble to be exact. When I get to about 18-25 MPH the front of my bike really starts to rattle and it is pretty loud. The bike itself does not move or shake, but just makes a loud rattle that is easily noticeable. I thought it may just be a zip cord or tie down in the font, but I checked all those and they don't seem to be the problem. I'm pretty sure the bike did not have the rattle when I bought it and it seems to be getting worse every day. However once I have been riding it for a good 30-45 minutes the rattle seems to stop. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks for the help

Doesn't sound strange to me. Sounds like you need to get a CCT. It happens to a lot of us. Just search the forums for "CCT f4i" and you'll find plenty of threads discussing the problem.

mine is doing it right now too...
trying to decide between
a) manual and having to adjust every 1000 miles or so
b) automatic and having to replace every 7000 to 12000 miles

Is the rattle RPM related or speed related? When it starts doing it pull the clutch in and let the engine drop to idle then rev it up a little, see if the rattle changes with it. Very well could be the CCT.... quite common on F4i's.

I'm actually really suprised my CCT hasn't given any trouble yet.... 25k miles and still on the original, still quiet :)

NO!! I had this problem... It sounds like a CAM CHAIN TENSIONER.... I had to have mine replaced... Take it in. If it breaks it will end up IN THE ENGINE. <----Not good...
