The price of slip-ons for this bike just amazes me, yet i am completely fed up with the [lack of] sound from the stock pipes, even after drilling out the baffles. has anyone done any sort of diy pipe setup, either straight pipe or custom made muffler? I have a decent amount of fabrication equipment and the knowhow and free time to use it, and am thinking that i could fiddle around for quite a few hours for that $700...
I am thinking of replacing the stock muffler with a dual monza style tip. do you think this would be obnoxiously loud? I do plan on keeping the cat (for now) and have found that a similar setup on my car sounds great.
i may get a little more involved and try to make some kind of dual glasspack muffler from scratch tho to keep the sound levels down a bit.

I am not positive but the lack of adequate backpressure may damage the motor.

we should start by finding out what muffler sounds good on 4cyl cars

glasspacks would be easy to fit with cutting and welding
as for backpressure damaging engines...it might burn your exhaust vavles
but im new to high reving engines.....i own a supra turbo 3" exhaust
no mufffler and it sounds mean.......but will never get that sound

I was wondering....

Looking at the big honkin' muffler on our FZ6es, I was amazed at how much it looks like a car muffler. Has anyone measured to see if a Flowmaster or similar muffler would fit it it's place? I'm tempted to try contacting a performance muffler company to see if they would make a muffler for our bikes.

They don't make kanz for our bike, either.
