Came damn close two days ago. Thankfully, I was only doing about 25mph. I find it's best to just let off the throttle and continue on the course you're going. Trying to swerve around them is just as dangerous (if not more) than hitting one. The only things I swerve for are dogs and deer. When the squirrels can change direction so quickly its near impossible to judge them and steer around them.

Ok think of it this way, anything that is lower than your front axle is fair game. Rabbits, opossum, snakes (gotta watch that though, shouldn't be a problem with gear though), small dogs, what ya gotta watch out for is deer, armadillos (really nasty because they are small and dense, kinda like hitting a 12" round chunk of brick in the road.
I have it 1 squirrel and 2 rabbits so far and it was really no problem.

If I was hitting small game on a regular basis, I think I'd have to start making my own leathers from their hides.

They are annoying, strange dogs chasing you are even worse though. I hit a chipmonk last season when I was doing 20mph, I felt kind of bad. Last June I was at Americade on the BMW demo, I was riding the Boxer Cup because they wouldn't let me take a K1200 because I was too young, anyway I was two or so bikes back from the leader and a friggen bird hit his front tire. Leaving a big cloud of feathers in his wake, it was funny in a terrible sort of way.

I wish I had squirrles to worry about, that means I would be riding. I have 5 weeks of college to get throough before I can go home and start my season =(

I got so mad at squirrels that were on the sidewalk and run in front of the car then run back that I am getting to the point where I am going to maintain my speed and direction.

I dont know about this small animal theory. Maybe head on, but if you're taking a corner at 30-50 mph and a squirrel decides to make a suicide run under one of your metzelers... you're fucked.

Those little bastards empty all my bird feeders, chew up my siding, and make messes everywhere. The more ya'll kill the happier I'll be.

I'm having to avoid holes and bumps in the road from all the frenzied construction that's going on right now.

Chipmunks are a different story. Cute little buggers that just forage.

You're a big jerk!
