Squeaky brakes! How do you un-squeak them?

Anyone else having squeaky front brakes? Mine are getting worse. I mentioned it to my dealer when I dropped it off for it's 7,000Km service....all they concluded on the report was it was due to "metalic brake pads". They didn't even offer me any solutions nor did they even try to 'up-sell' me on new and better brake pads!?!? :rolleyes

So my question to my fellow SBN'ers is two fold....

1. What can I do to fix or clean to make my pads stop squealing. (I have a can of "Brake cleaner" but it says NOT to get on your pads?!?!)

2. What are some good replacement brake pads to get for our bike? (brand and types)

Thanks guys.

Don't worry about getting brake cleaner on any of the painted parts down there, I soaked my new calipers in it to clean them after receiving them and nothing came off. The paint on the calipers and forks seems to be invincible to brake cleaner and even brake fluid. Yeehaw.

I seem to have experianced the same ..... I usually just spray some brake cleaner right into the calipers every now & then + wipe down the rotors with it. So for not one bit of paint has come off and no ill effect of getting the cleaner right on the pads.

I just ordered myself a set of Carbone Lorraine SBK3 pads for the front (R6 forks & calipers) and RX for the rear. Not sure how they are but will find out soon enough, should be getting them in the mail today.
EBC is also another popular brand. I was running the HH pads front & rear, they seemed OK .... but I have nothing to really compare them to (other then stock which the EBC are better then) since I haven't gotten the new ones yet.
