The little KLX is great but wasn't cutting it on the street. I missed the ability to go for long rides and that low end grunt only 900+ cc's will give you.

I found a nice used silver 2004 BMW 1150R. 13,000 miles, Givi sport screen, factory sidecases and heated grips. Wow is it smooth, comfortable, but still has plenty of power and handles nicely. I just need a top case, a tall touring windscreen and maybe a throttlemeister and I'm ready for the ong haul. My trip to Colorado last Fall that I did on a ZX9R would have been a breeze on this thing. Me likey heated grips!

I get some better prictures later.

Time to accessorize! The Givi screen gives off too much turburance and buffets the helmet. I'm looking at the touring windscreen and trying ot find a topcase that will work with the BMW "System" side cases and rack.

Here's a shot in the daytime without the luggage or sport screen.

Thanks for the links! I ordered the Givi V46 Topcase and mouting kit/adapter plate, the BMW "tall" rider and passenger seats for more legroom, the BMW sportscreen for short trips and aroudn town, the cee baileys 21.5" Euro screen for touring and hard case liners.

I'm thinking about a set of ELF pegs, but I think my budget is pretty much shot to hell now, so maybe in a few months. They are pretty pricy. I saw some cheaper pegs, but they don't fit the 2 spark heads, and defintely not as cool as the elf pegs that fold into the head.

The seat and position on my 9R was pretty comfortable. The only complaints were that the motor is a little buzzy at 80mph, and for some reason the position of the bars made my left hand tired holding them. I could barely pull in the clutch after a few hours of riding. The throttle side wasn't a problem.
