I loved it.
It wasn't better than, or worse than the first movie. Just a nearly perfect addition to the first movie. Now I'm looking forward to the third one.
I didn't notice too much of the CGI. It was done fairly well. Sometimes in movies I think the CGI is so over the top that it doesn't even come off as real at all (cough, Neo fighting hundreds of Smiths in the park in "Matrix: Reloaded, cough). But this movie's CGI was done well and in "dark" enough situations that it looked good. I say dark because the CGI shots were from far away, or in lower lighting, so as to make it harder to see the CGI lines.
Tobey Maguire does Spidey well, again. I don't know if he's the one in all the scenes where Spidey is in his costume, but some of the ways he crouches and stuff are so cool...they look JUST like the comic book did.
The villain is MUCH better than the Green Goblin was, in my opinion. He's got better lines, his costume doesn't appear cartoonish., and the arms are insane. They are so cool to watch, it's like they're actually alive.
Peter takes his mask off a few times, and some people see who he really is. I thought that part was cool. He's struggling with whether he wants to be Spidey or not, and then learns that people need him.
Some of the cooler parts of the movie were the lesser characters, like Aunt May and J. Jonah Jameson. They add good elements to the movie without being major characters in it.
Also, the scene with Bruce Campbell was cool. Sam Raimi must really have a soft spot for Campbell. He's had a bit part in both of the Spider-Man movies.
And you get a couple of ideas for who might be the next villain...I won't ruin it though, I'm sure if you're up to date on Spider-Man at all, you'll have a few ideas who it could be already.
If you liked the first one, go see this one, you won't be upset.
