My CBR 954 (with only 8k) suddenly started running real bad. Felt like a cylinder was out. So I figured I would check the spark plugs real quick………….Well there is nothing quick about that job. After about an hour I got the 1st one out and it looked fine … I put it back in and then tried unplugging each spark plug wire one at a time, then starting the bike to try and determine which cylinder was causing the problem. It seemed like the far right might be but I couldn’t tell for sure. So I removed that spark plug and it also looked fine. At that point I said screw it and put it all back together before I forgot where everything goes.

For those who don’t know what a pain the CBR 954 is to work on the airbox alone has like 8 screws on the top. Then 6 more inside. Then there are 3 hoses, 2 plugs and a flapper cable that I wouldn’t even attempt to remove, and that’s just the air box.

So now I’m thinking maybe it’s a fuel problems. Hell I don’t know. Guess I’ll take it to the stealer and bite the bullet. Any guesses on what the grand total will be? I’m going to guess 436$

Nah, injected..

Was the forth cylinder actually not igniting? I think you'd have noticed it right away on the throthle response.. Was the power loss considerable?

How is the spark? Do all cylinders heat up to the same heat?

Its very strange for a honda to be having problems like this, being that new. Could you have gotten some bad fuel. Might want to check that filter.

It’s an 04 …. And I’m 99% sure it’s fuel injected. I can hear the fuel pump every time I start the bike. But funny thing is when I had it all apart I never really looked for a fuel rail but I’m sure it was there.
First of all, if it's a 2000 year or greater fireblade it is fuel injected. Secondly, if you own a 2004, it's a 1000RR, not a 954. Those were only made in 2002 and 2003.

Do you have a manual? There is a good troubleshooting guide in there...

And looking at my 954 rr its a track race bike not on street but with fairings off and correct tools i can get my plugs in and out without touching the airbox
