I got to ride a 2005 GSX-R 1000 about 40 miles tonight. I now know why EVERYONE loves that bike, it's a monster! Shifting? What's that? Put it in 4th and just cruise, it doesn't matter what speed. I loved the thing, didn't want to get off of it. The seat is SO much better then my F4i's it wasn't funny. Everything about the bike was better then mine, EVERYTHING. I guess it's amazing what 5 years of tech will do for a sportbike. Only thing I missed was my F4i's HID I put in, as I don't like halogens anymore.

If you haven't ridden a GSX-R 1000 yet, give it a go, you'll be surprised. I'm no Suzuki fan, but I would have to seriously look at them now! I don't see how beginner's get on them, it has to stunt their learning curve, the throttle on that thing is wicked.

I think you'll find a similar difference in all of the 1kcc bikes. This is purely speculative, but I know that my viffer, in the same price range as the 1k's, has an infinitely more comfy seat than an F4i. Also, a lot of money gets put into the 1ks for R&D, but weight is slightly less of an issue, so they can use real padding, instead of plywood.

I aggree. My friends 06 R1 I got to ride around for a good bit was a dream to ride but it wasn't because of the 1000cc.
All about the shifting, display, handling, posture (Coulda been more comfortable but for that bikes purpose A+)...
If I could have an R1 with my motor in it I would, maybe the R6 would result in simular feelings?
But I dunno anyone with an R6:)

My 06 R6 is suprisingly comfy.. I'm only 5'8 on a good day, but I've had rides with 100mi+ and no stops with absolutely no back, neck, wrist, or ass problems. I've ridden the mighty gixxer 1k and R1 and will give them a slight edge in comfort over my R6...

The bike wasn't uncomfortable at all, I'd definately own one if I was in the market for a new bike.

As far as HID's, I just have one in the low beam side, no retrofit, just a HID in the stock housing. The stock F4i headlight has lots of glare to begin with, it only made it a little worst with the HID. I have a 2nd for the highbeam side, I just never put it in.

GSX-R1000 is the best liter bike there is, and I've been on them all (exotic italians excluded)

Honda sportbike seats aren't known for being comfy. They're called 'the plank' for a reason. :D

Try one of the Honda liter-twins and you'll have an excuse to get off every hundred miles anyway. Either that or you'll be pushing the sucker up the side of the road :bitchslap . If I didn't love the bike so much I'd consider the range a drawback. :banana

My Honda seat is pretty comfy. I rode for 2+ hours with no numbness or discomfort. The RR seats, though, are a lot more uncomfortable.

I'm afraid to ride a liter bike, because I'll probably want to get one. 600 is plenty of power for me.

I was just curious how far you guys can go on the mid 90's GSXR 750's b4 you start achin. I was thinkin about gettin a VFR or FZ6/1 for sport touring but i got a deal that is to good to pass up from my friends older brother. How is it on torque compared to a 600 or a 1000. How about 6th gear roll on at 70 mph. Those are my main concerns. Just curious any known problems to look 4.

2 months ago I sold my f4i for a 2006 GSXR 1K....its one of the best choices I have ever made.

Its night and day, and no more riding at 13K RPMS to make it go......

I think another Honday man may have bit the dust.......

Worst thread-jack ever...

I can't imagine how the new liter bikes are. My 900 has way more than enough power for me and even though it's a tank on 2 wheels with a shot suspension, it still handles just fine. I'm sure it's got at least one thing on those bikes and that's comfort. And then in your case, going from an older 600cc to a brand new 1000cc, I can't even imagine how drastic the difference was for you.

Well it was 30 or so miles of highway, 10 or so slower roads. It wasn't my bike, and I was taking it home from the shop on brand new tires, I wasn't trying to push someone else's bike out hard. Definately a good bike, might have to consider it, damn it!

Either way, off to Beaver Run I go, trackday tommorow.
