First one where I was old enough to understand...And let me tell you, it's some scary sh**!!!!

Damages are these...My privacy fence is gone and the tree in the front yard shed a few large limbs, but no huge damage...

Just around my corner (literally) is a local park with giant oak trees, palm trees, and others...There is at least a few GIANT oak trees completely uprooted and laying in the middle of the road...There's also a palm tree in the road that was uprooted...

Go up the road a little more and there's a giant oak on top of what appears to be a Ford Escort or something like that...All I can see is the back wheel..The rest of the car is now made of wood...

These are just a few of the things that I saw within a half mile of my house...I can't imagine what else is out there...Daylight will definitely have a few stories to tell...

I work all day tomorrow, but maybe I can have someone take some pics...Stay tuned...

How can we live here? Very simple. I was raise here. The hurricanes don't hit that often. When they do you know well in advance that they are coming towards the state. They rarely get to the strength that this one got to. The deaths from this storm came from people not taking precautions. Granted the storm was forcasted to go elsewhere, it was still going to be close to them. Why they didn't at least somewhat prepare for it is beyond me. I was prepared for this storm I had some :spam (woo hoo! i finally used that smiley) in my room ready to last me a couple days. Think about this though.... do you know when an earthqauke is going to come along like the one back in 94 (i think it was)? I believe places out in california were left DEVESTATED. People were without power for weeks there too. At least with the hurricane you have the option to close up shop and evacuate. People are going to live in different areas. In those different areas are going to be different hazards. Think about some of the other countries in the world who have suicide bombers in malls? We havn't gotten to that point yet. But we all think how could people live there? They just do. I don't know of anyone down here in Florida that wants the rest of the nation to feel sorry for us. I think though that as a nation we usually try and help out others in some kind of need. Remember when 9/11 happened? How many states sent there emergency teams to those sites? That is one of the good things about this nation. It pulls together and bounces back from disaster's.....both natural and man made.
