So here we basically have data that says "it doesn't matter" and you guys are bickering about brands. Here's what I learned:

1. This is a very expensive 2 HP. If you paid that price per HP for the bike, it would only have about 20 hp.
2. It can be less expensive if you pick a cheaper choice.
3. All the manufacturer's BS about engineering is just that
4. These days, the bike manufacturers have pretty much wrung out the performance potential of the 600s before they leave the factory.

I know, I was thinking the same thing...People have got to understand that just beacuse the bike may breathe out a little more dosen't mean it's breathing in any better...

Anybody could have told you that slip-on's make little to no difference. The real gains and differences between the companies come from full kits. That whole comparo was stupid.

So what your saying is If I buy the PC3 I won't get anymore HP's!!!!!! Wrong!!!!!! If the factory can make a 240HP 500CC 2 stroke bike then 110 HP 636CC 4 stroke bike is not wrung out! I have found that I could change some gears and add a couple things and pick up around 40 to 50 more HP and that is under a grand! Also you changing to a differant brand of tires can change your HP! I spent $407 for my Micron and those three extra HP is a noticable differance!

Was this on a dynojet or eddy current dyno?
it says... and I quote "Our original plans incorporated a Dynojet Power Commander and maps supplied by each exhaust company, but we found only infinitesimal gains on the dynamometer with remapping, and aborted that part of teh test after the first few slip-ons"- Sport Rider-October 2004

Well, so much for the whole "D&D pipes give you no gains whatsoever" or "D&D pipes cause you to lose hp". Seems as if the D&D pipe was a whopping 0.5hp behind the beloved Akra and actually made more HP than the Arata. Hell, it wasn't even the loudest pipe in the test.

I would not put a D&D on my bike, They are not all that good sounding and they are made cheaply!

I can only go by what I have personally experienced. I had a black satin D&D on my 6R. It had a nice deep tone at idle and it would scream at the top. Not raspy, not a tin can full of marbles sound. Got plenty of compliments on it. Had the pipe for 3 years and never experienced one problem with it. Best of all, I got it for a little over $200. Spending over $500 for a slip-on just to get a "cool" Akrapovic sticker is a bit extreme. Esp. for the little power gains they provide.

Can't speak from personal experience with D&D on other bikes, though.
