I put in new signals, three-wire as opposed to the old (non-factory) two-wire. I found a third wire on the bike, so I hooked them up and had running lights - awesome! But then the idiot light for the right signal on the dash came on, indicating something wrong. Looking over the connections, I find the left signal getting way too hot, and the lens is starting to melt... I play with the wires and find the constant-power wire is the one causing the idiot light to go off.

So I took off the third wires - no more running lights - and just have the wires connected for signals. They flash faster then the old ones used to - and the rear too - but they are working fine now. I'd really like the running lights to work, though. Any ideas? The new signals came with three wires, it's not like I modded them to work in a way they weren't designed to. TIA

I do the same thing only with GG lights [have running lights all the time].... they're LED's so less heat and less likely to melt shit.
