Is anyone else here sick of looking through the forums to learn more about motorbikes to suddenly find yourself looking at some guys penis or girls vagina? I know some of you guys are going to say to not click the sub forum but I have realized there is ALOT less posting in the main boards such as General Sportbikes etc....I know im probably going to get flamed for this but I'm here for sportbikes not naked men and women....now i will be :flamed

No you won't get flamed...there is no reason to.

However, you don't have to go into these forums at all..it's a choice...about 40 minutes ago I saw you in the Cubby Hole so it was your choice to go in there and check out Brandy.

Trust me...it's not going away..the Cubby Hole or the Sugar Shack...they are a small part of the whole forum and if people choose to go there it's by choice.

Thanks for your input!! :)

There are lots of "choices" on these forums, such as the ability to add people to ignore lists if you so "choose" to not desire to read their posts, but many people refuse to err on the side of personal choice. The greater good of the popular opinion must always be considered.

True but if it was a "popular opinion" then the Cubby Hole would have long been gone.

Again, no one is forcing you to go into these forums..so what difference does it make to one if they are there....many others enjoy them...if you don't that's fine.

That's like saying because I don't care for country music on the radio that there should be no stations playing it...thing is I don't have to tune into those stations and those that like it can! :)

Again we appreciate your views.........thank you!!!

Well when someone is horny we all know we can go to the cubby hole!

Not to mention when there are no new threads or replies being posted I have nothing to consume my time...ex. then the cubby hole came into play, only because i love the suicide girls....

Popular opinion, as is true with all contexts, is a dynamically changing beast subjective to the influences of time, empiricism, and perspicacity. Today, tomorrow, next week - none of these are absolute.

Now you're talking... Actually, no. You're example isn't even the remotely applicable. It's actually like saying there shouldn't be any country music playing church, because people come there to pray, not listen to country music. There are other places for that.

I'm not giving you my view. You're not the intended audience.

Whatever...it's your opinion...just trying to clarify things but you have to convulte them totally. A basic concept but I suppose some can't understand it.

BTW--I was trying to be polite to you in saying thanks but you obviously can't recoginze that soooooooooooo....I know what you are trying to do AND it won't work....nice try though!!!

I do agree mostly with Wraith, I do appreciate the trying to clear things up but it just doesn't make sense...one does not come to a sportbike forum to look at porn, hell I could instantly name 100 websites to find better, high quality and free porn. I do not come here for the naked women or men for that matter, but to advance my education in the philosophy and talk of the motorcycle, its parts, its history, and the amazing skill it takes to ride one. But like Wraith said one does not go to church to listen to country music, they go to church to pray just like we come to sportbikes.net to read about sportbikes

I haven't convoluted anything. You're the one stretching "Sportbikes.net should be about bikes, not about porn." to being "Porn should be removed from the Internet". Truth be told, there are far better places on the big bad Internet to get porn if you want to address your sexual needs. This isn't the proper venue. Besides, naked or otherwise, adult content needs to be minimalized (not minimized) as not to deter from the markets where more strict requirements for "protecting" children from such content exist. I'm sure Fred doesn't want to even remotely consider having to address legal acqusations that he didn't take adequate steps to protect, deter, and prohibit minors from inappropriate content. This is the big bad Internet we're talking about here...not just good 'ol US of A. There are lawyers in a dozen languages waiting around every corner. Don't go pissing off one of those snarky UK folk, or those communists who censor the Internet their citizens access.

BTW--I was trying to be polite to you in saying thanks but you obviously can't recoginze that soooooooooooo....I know what you are trying to do AND it won't work....nice try though!!!
I'm afraid you know very little about which you speak. I neither require nor request any courtesy or politeness. You may feel free to be a complete ass at your own discression. It might be good for you. But, the core issue remains valid. You're a moderator here - not an owner/operator. Giving a suggestion to you to chew on is like complaining to the clerk at BestBuy about the evils of the RIAA.

In addition to "People come to sportbikes.net to receive information about sportbikes, not porn" debate. Should porn exist on this site for any defined point of time, it will only take a few quarters for the various content filters to label this site as "Adult content", not "automotive", and there will be thousands of companys who will block access to "sportbikes.net" based on their enterprise filters.

How many people access this site from work? How many are going to not appreciate being blocked from accessing it because it's been classified as an "Adult site"...when it shouldn't be.

I know I will definatly not be happy if it did come to that...I have school 5 days a week for most of the year, most of that time i have access to some sort of internet.

And to know that I will not be able to access this website due to filters would get me pretty angry. As Wraith has stated I feel the porn on the boards should be minimalized and thrown out of the website completely and if not even that overseen by a higher ranking official of the sbn organization.

Valid points the Wraith has made about the filters.

It would be a shame for Fred to loose sponsership from the vendors over the porn.

Don't get me wrong, I love tits as much as the next guy, but I don't come here for it. All it takes is for ONE person to go to Watchguard, Surfcontrol, Webwasher, Sonicwall, Computer Associates (eTrust product), Websence...etc. and click on those respective sites, "Submit a URL" and chose "Adult". They'll review the content and if they notice the porn...that categorized rating will propagate around to the other competing content provisions faster than a DNS change. If my company labels this site as possessing adult content, I won't be able to justify adding an exclusion for it. If I can't waste a few minutes (or more) at work reading about sportbikes because some people simply can't live without getting some attention for their tits, I'll be pissed. I can justify adding "datek.com" to the allowed sites and removing it from the "Online Shopping/DayTrading" category, I can't justify adding "Sportbikes.net".

It just won't fly. Some entire COUNTRIES will block this site if it becomes listed as adult. That's a lot of possible registered users, contributing members, and basic page impressions that will suffer.

And in English that means we will not be able to look at this site from work, school, maybe even at home for some people....One bad apple ruins the bag.
