Hi folks, i'm back after 3 long years. I sold my black 07 for a sportbike because i wanted more power and i crashed it. Got me a DRZ400SM supermoto and had plenty of fun with it for almost a year now but i'm beginning to get sick of the long rides on the highway. I had a full system, cut airbox and tuning done on my 400cc supermoto but the seat and speed really sucks on highways.

one thing i never regretted about the drz was it's ruggedness and reliability, crashed it 3 times and only had to change my steering bar once. the lack of power is kinda getting to me because i'm making more highway trips this year. it also lacks wind protection on long rides.

thinking back, i sold my fizzy because i wanted a more aggressive riding posture, hated slouching over the bars and the front forks were too fucking soft. they made the bike handle like a banana boat in the bends. the drz feels the same now but the diff is, i can tweak the preload and rebound.

my question is, should i get another fizzy next year? kinda hoping yammy will come up with a white faired model but they keep repeating colors, damned. Or should i opt for another middleweight instead? ducs and katooms are too expensive, i get shitty kawasaki dealers here so i'm kinda left with the 3 Jap choices. i'm posting here because the fizzy is the cheapest 600cc available on the market but i'm having second thoughts because i rode it before.

hmm... well, should i get the fizzy again and swop out the fork springs/ opt for heavier weight oil/ racetech cartridge emulators or choose another bike instead? :dunno

'09 looks like the last year for the FZ6..... no '10 offering except for the de-tuned FZ6R.

Fork work, and an Ohlins out back have done wonders for my '05. Wind noise is the biggest remaining issue..... I'll add braided brake lines at some point.... but the wind noise is terrible. If they had offered this bike in the 'naked' model they have in Europe, I would have bought that with no regrets at all.

If I were looking in '10.... I'd likely buy a Triumph Street Triple.

If it were me, I would go with something different. If I were looking for a new bike (or even slightly used) I would go for the Ducati Multistrada (for two up riding).

i would get a duc 696 or a triumph triple if i had the money but i'm saving up for a rainy day, looking to get a cheap 600cc bike with decent wind protection and doesn't look ugly with a top box.. man.. i don't get too many choices :/

Don't be too quick to pass up the "used" Ducati or Triumph. I can speak to Ducati deals and there are some good one to be had...

Well you may have to drive a 100-200 miles to find a deal, or possibly fly out and ride the bike...

I bought my bike 160 miles from home. Left my car at the salesman's house and rode the bike home. Then drove up with the wife and retrieved the car. There are deals, you just might have to work at it a bit...

trust me man, i tried. i only see the sport ducs and 1 litre monsters popping up in ads.. can't get a decent 696 anywhere :/
Why are you limiting yourself to the 696? There are plenty of other model ducs. There is the 800, 900, and 1000cc models. And while not a monster, there is the 800SS and 800 SS/CR models. Both have the air cooled engine of the monster line.

Look outside your state. When I was looking, I looked in a 7 state area. Check out the monster forums too.
