Ever since I purchased mine last year there are times when I'm down shifting to first and the shifter gets stuck in the down position and the bikes is in neutral.

Has anyone delt with this? Is this normal?

my question would be are you making positive firm shifts? If you are just like "doink, I think I'll shift now..tap" then you could very easily not firmly engaging and therefore it isn't going to go in. If, OTOH, you are firmly shifting and it is doing that, i would have some other questions I would would ask.

How many miles are on the clock?
When was the last time the oil was changed?
Is this something that just started happening?
Or was it like this from mile number 1?
Have you dropped the bike on that side?
etc.

you might send a pm to hybrid as well

Have you dropped the bike on that side? Bike has never been dropped, down ect. Adult ridden, front wheel has never been off the ground. Bike was never over 7k RPM during 1000 mile break in. 150 mph after that though:) only once.

Is this your first bike? You should have a nice clunk when the bike goes into 1st gear, probably moreso than any other transmission shift. You must be firm, especially if the bike is barely rolling.

change the oil in it, try shifting a bit more firmly. If after you change the oil in it, it still feels boggy, I would take it to the dealer and get prepared to take it without lube.

does it just feel boggy or it is popping out of first? or just missing it altogether? It sounds to me like you need to be engaging it more firmly. but that is my .02

I experience the same problem. I don't know alot about bikes so I thought it was just the way I'm riding...It doesn't happen all the time so I'm assuming it's something with the way I'm handling the stops..Don't know..But I just let out the clutch slightly and it engages. Mine has been like that from day one. I don't have any issues with my bike either. I don't even need service yet..I was also told(who knows if its true) that because it's a new clutch/bike it's not a cause for concern..
