Not a motorcycle accident, but a car accident... 2 weeks ago. I have "multiple" compression fractures in my thoracic spine. For sure T7/T8, but following an MRI last week, they said there are more. I meet with the specialist Wednesday to discuss treatment options, but I'm probably selling my bike.... If I get another one, it will likely be a more upright ST rig or something, but I may be done for good, depending how treatment goes.
I'll still hang around... I'll miss riding, but my b***** concern is my second career as a bass player. Having a 10 pound weight around my neck for 4 hours a night on weekends isn't going to be helpful and I may end up selling my bass guitars and getting one of these instead - Omni Bass - the pictures all show them on a strap, but they also make a tripod stand which is optional. I've been wanting to try one out anyway, but this is pushing me that direction.
Keep your head up and work hard. I wasn't sure I'd ever walk right again and I can now, just running hasn't returned as I liked. I'll be pulling for you.
Good luck to you, sir. I hope it all works out well in the end. Modern medicine can do a lot; take full advantage of it.
You're still pretty young, and AFAIK in good general health. I'd expect you can heal well.
Good luck to you. I hope you can find a way to continue riding and playing. My m/c accident left me unable to run and I walk with a slight limp, but luckily I'm still able to ride. Honestly dont know what I'd do if that were taken away from me.
BTW I know shit about guitars but that Omni Bass looks bad ass, go get it.
Its that sinking feeling, when someone (on-line or off) posts that he quits or someone passes away riding. Harsh realities, but yes...
I wish you a speedy recovery and as most say, medicines, precaution & physiotherapy shall see you back on the saddle.
Cheers
