Is there like a chart or something for 08ninja250r about where the Rpms should be at and the gear?
In the manual but they are usually for the break in. You wont need to know, you will learn with time on your bike. After awhile you will be able to hear the engine and shift then. Normal shifting around city on my bike is about 5-6k, maybe some one that has a 08 250 can chime in and help you out a little if you still desire.

oil saving mode: Keep RPMs between 5k-9k (Sounds completely docile and normal)
king-of-jungle mode: Keep RPMs between 9k-12.5k (Sounds like a power drill raping a baby rhinoceros)

I started out keeping it between 5k-9k because the sound of the engine made me nervous. I then got a sv650 and decided that the 250's engine noise above 9k was normal enough for me. Go by the manual until you start bitching and crying about it being a slow bike. By then you will be fine with keeping it above 9k RPM, where the cool kids hang out.

Then 250 has a tendency to burn more oil over long trips if you keep the engine speed up (ie. high RPM) but it's not a big deal at all. Once you start really abusing the bike, keep an eye on the oil level.

For break in, follow what the manual says.

For everyday normal riding, keep the bike in whatever gear keeps the RPMs in the 'powerband'...probably for the 250 that's 7k+, not sure as I have not ridden one.

For me, on the GS, I try to keep my RPMs above 5k, because 5200-5500 is where she starts to pull hardest if I get on the throttle.

If the sound of motorcycle engine makes you nervous, you should give up riding and drive a car only.

Seriously, not ragging on the OP but...

Remember that two weeks ago, this is the guy who wouldn't settle for anything less than a GSX-R or a CBR. Something for the new guys to keep in the back of their minds.

Redline is 14k (at least on the old models). That should tell you something right off the bat. You won't start getting the powerband until about 8k. 8k-12 or 13k is pretty much the most pull that the bike has. But as was said before, it does burn some oil when you keep the revs high. I've had to put in another liter of oil since my oil change about 2.5k miles ago. But then again, I like to feel the bike accelerate (i know, i know, it's only a 250. it doesn't accelerate that hard), and I rev it almost to redline whenever I'm feeling squirrely.

If "it" is a she, "it" speaks and types in a very unfemine way. You know, kind of like that gangsta eubonics language but not as bad. "It" could just be a ghetto black chick...but either way "its" gotta be part gangsta.
