Ok I'm bored and I noticed some people listen to music when they ride.

So what do you listen to?

If I do its usually Tool or a trancestyle from a guy names Necros who came around making mod files (showing my age) His current recording name is Alpha Conspiracy.

Cipher is the best "riding" music as opposed to Foward Rewinding and i haven't checked out his new stuff yet. Ah man though. Ubik, Martian LoveSong, Mechanism Eight, Point of Depature.. whoot I think those songs are going get me killed.

I seem to rarely listen though.

I've found strapping on the iPod and the necessary wires is too much a burden unless I'm taking a multi-hundred mile journey that doesn't include aggressive riding.

every time I get on, i have my minidisc. I usually have some sort of techno, sister machine gun, LOA, hooverphonices, yakooza, etc in. i prefer to have techno, but not acid techno. i save that for the clubs.

Sorry to throw this one back on topic, but for those of you who listen to music & ride, what headphones you using for inside your helmet?? I got a set of the Koss ear buds and they start to hurt my ears after a little while inside my helmet. Just wondering if there are a better type..

i plug my mp3 player into my chatterbox - pretty good sound quality.....
as for music choice - well it's a mix of rap, top 40 and country....and sometimes i just listen to the radio....

hmmm i would like to get a chatterbox someday. but no one I ride with has them.. kinda pointless specially for how much they cost.. Do you have to do alot of modification to your helmet?

Fus, you and I are in the same boat with the ear buds. I love my ear buds in the fact that I can hear so well with them but man they start to hurt after awhile and its a juggle sometimes keeping them in there while putting the helmet on.

I was thinking about investing in some ear bud hybrids that wrap around your ear. I think I have seen silent with those.

I am also wanting to look for a more player or jimmy mine so I can hang it around my neck and under a jacket or something. I want an ipod but honestly hell I don't need more the 128mb when I ride.

The people with the chatterboxes sure came in handy on Saturday night that's for sure.

Bad... dude.. Top 40, country and rap.. I can't even bring myself to flame you.. I feel pity.. like I should.. take you out and shoot you dead. Naw. Seriously. Right on. Whatever makes you happy.

Yea I haven't found a good alternative to the buds. They are hard to get in and keep in.

You should look into MD man seriously you can get a unit new at best buy for as low as $99.99..

I'll take a look at them.. I just didnt know if they would be too clunky. You can snag some pretty small sized mp3 players if you aren't too concerned with total space on them. Like I said I dont' need 20 gigs of listening music. I can't even get through half of my current song list on my 256mb player when mowing the lawn.

Hell I'd like an ipod or something that big but for riding naw. Size isn't so important to me.

it isn't so bad w/the MD player. the discs hold what? 4 hours worth of music? something silly like that. The only problem I have with them, I would have with anything fitting into my inner pocket of my suit.

As for the ear/bud hybrid things you are talking about...Walmart has them for like 10 bucks and they hook over your ears. the helmet holds them place and they are not hard to get placed whilst putting the said helmet on your head...

anyway, joe also has some (as does Rob) he bought as Best Buy for 40 that are made by Sony I think that actually fit inside the ear canal itstelf. I'll tell ya, they are nice and they have awesome sound quality. they also come w/adapters to fit your ear better.

I use koss KSC7 headphones. Since My HJC helment has earphone pockets I just poped out the black plastic ear holder thingies and slid them into the pockets. They are great, good sound and I don't have to worry about putting them on before I put the helment on.

They are a little more pricey, but they are supposed to have better sound quality. I think they might fit in the pockets a little better. The ones I have from koss are awesome though. But I figured the ones I don't like I will give to my friend who was wanting some.

I've never tried those clip style ones before cause I was too worried that being flat on the outside of ear that they would produce much sound or good quality compared to something I can jam into my ear canal and cause internal damage with.

How is the clip on the side of your ear though? Does that start to hurt after awhile?

I think I have a buddy at work that as one of those though so I will check them out. Thanks.
