Not to be Dr. Obvious here, but did you notice that the FZ6 has an undertail exhaust? :p

Either way, the vast majority of what you're looking at are probably slip-ons and have nothing to do with the engine per-se. The problem is mounting, not the engine and there probably isn't proper clearance under the seat for certain cans and THEN even if you did get it to mount and fit properly it would probably look stupid.

Ok so I take it going over to a side exhaust is not posible with our bike?
Everything is possible. You can make it work, but why? I'd like to see someone do the Ninja exhaust mod and terminate the pipes under the engine before the ex up. A lot of weight savings there and lowers the center of gravity.

It's not worth doing. You'd have to reroute everything and fabricate mounts. With the large variety of FZ6 exhaust options out there, why bother?

Some people prefer side mounted exhaust. The other reason is that you can save quite a bit of money on the exhaust by having a 1 can setup. A brand thats $750-800 for the FZ6 would be $400-500 for an R6. I wouldn't say it's not worth the effort. It's all in what you like & want.

if you converted to an r6 tail section and put a side pipe then maybe it would look good but gawd the tail looks so fugly stock w/ an undertail exaust.

I was looking into this as well. Maybe all you need is the whole r6 system (header, pipe, and can) and it will mount up with little modification. The r6 header looks almost the same as ours except for the fact that it exits out the side where ours curves up under the seat.

Maybe there's a chance of performance gains? The r6 system looks slightly less restrictive than ours. Plus the cheaper aftermarket options (1 can vs. 2).

The only downsides are fabbing up the undertail to make it look right without the stock exhaust and the slight reduction in aerodynamics from running a can on the side (like we go that fast anyways :lao )

Something to ponder anyways!
