Hi all, I let my girlfriend ride my bike and when she was riding it I noticed a buzzing noise coming from the bike.. I pull the bike into the garage and put it up on the stand. I start it up and put it in first gear.. the buzzing noise was coming from the chain.. I think it may be a little loose (cause of the flapping up and down).. but then again whats normal??

How do you know if your chain is loose? (How much slack is normal)?

Mesured from a solid point, you should have between 1 1/4" to 1 3/8" of slack in your chain.

And you'll always hear a slight buzz.

One more thing, break out your owners manual and read it.

Check your owner's manual for the proper amount of slack. "Flapping" is definitely a bad sign though. Make sure not to screw up the alignment while you adjust the chain (adjust it the same amount on both sides).
