OZARK, Ark. — Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle says one of his officers used a Taser on a 10-year-old girl who was combative when the officer tried to get the girl into a patrol car to be taken to a youth shelter.

Noggle said Tuesday that officer Dustin Bradshaw went to the girl's home after her mother called police woman called police.

According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Thursday, the officer found the girl on the floor of the house screaming and crying. She refused to follow her mother's instructions and the mother told Bradshaw to use his Taser.

Bradshaw carried the girl to the living room and told her she was going to jail, according to the report. The girl was violently kicking, the report said, and struck Bradshaw in the groin with her legs and feet. The report said Bradshaw administered a "very, very brief" stun with the Taser, put the girl in handcuffs and carried her to his patrol car. She was taken to the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil.

Maybe its just me, but i dont see a problem with this. Its the same as when an officer uses a taser on an old person, everyone says the cop should have gone hands on. Problem with that logic is that when the cop takes grandma to the ground, then he/she is second guessed and accussed of using excessive force. If the little bastard was violently kicking, and kicked the officer, then game on. Sounds to me like she needed the full 5 second ride!

Based on what the OP has posted I'm thinking this may be okay. How do you physically fight a kid this young? You don't because everyone will scream the police over did things. I don't have a problem with non leo's asking questions on something they don't understand but I believe this was a police bash-contrary to what the op said. If you don't understand the job then ask before bashing when it's not a clear cut case. And contrary to what some of you think it's not always a clear cut case. Don't believe everything you read or hear in the media.

I disagree. Quite a few ten year old kids deserve to be tazed. Walk around any mall or Toys R Us store and you will see various little Hell Spawned kids that deserve much MORE than a quick jolt from a tazer.

The mother needs to establish some discipline in this kids life. I know if I acted like that when I was that age I would get my ass beat and grounded. That alone was enough to keep me from acting like that, and I turned out fine.

You're young so you can be forgiven for your ignorance. There are kids out here just as there are adults with issues that go beyond what's normal. I responded to many calls where the kids were just flat out of control. You can beat their asses all you want and ground them and they'll still lash out or bust out the bedroom window and flee. Don't presume that just because your childhood or home life was normal that everyone else's is.

And what cops have you talked to? Tasers dont give people heart attacks. Meth, cocaine, and other types of drugs people are on when they get tased are what killed them.
