Iv'e been lucky so far...All three of my bikes and cars are in the same [basement] level garage....I had water up to the garage doors 'cause the outside storm drains were overwhelmed...but then the rain finally quit and the water went back...it was about 2 - 3 feet deep and I was starting to get panicky! I have lived in the same house for 20 years and it had never come this close .....ever!...... :fiddy

Life's a bitch and then, your basement floods...

Sorry to hear about your predicament. Hopefully, you didn't have anything important like pictures and stuff stored in there.

All the rest is replaceable.

Basement's all clean and everything is off the floor, but I have a well and it's overflowing. Water is going through the well's electrical conduit when it overflows and it's like having an open faucet in the basement.

I managed to get a pedestal sump pump. Stuck it in a deep plastic bucket, placed it under the leak, routed the outlet through a crack in a window and it's all good now.

It's amazing how everyone was out hunting for pumps. Home Depots and Lowes were all out. It's like the Grand Central Station in the pump/plumbing sections of all the stores I was in. They're even gobbling up jet pumps! I was tempted to do also, but my ISO training prevented me from getting something for the wrong application.. :lao

Funny how some people actually bring in their sump pumps in with them to get the hardware to make their particular system work.:eek:nfloor I asked each and everyone of them I saw "Where did you get that!?!?!?" :lao

It's also refreshing that despite everyone there had a particular problem of their own, they were all willing to stop their own hunt and take the time to help out others with suggestions and instructions. They complain about the weather and what it's doing to their properties with smiles on their faces. :)

One thing I can say about the American society is that they come together well indeed in events of adversities. Just don't stand in the way of women who are shopping at a sale, "especially" for discounted bridal gowns!!!!:banana

When she dries out, and everything is back to normal you should look into permanently installing a sump unit in your basement. I had one that had a floater attached and everytime the floater would lift the pump would kick on. Then I invested $4000 and had my basement sealed! :) It's a big chore, but it pays off in the long run. You never have to worry about a moldy dank basement after you seal it.

On the lighter side, the rain should be letting up early this week. We've had rain everyday this past week, and I want to ride. Haven't been able to since last Monday.

You need to send some of that rain down this way, it seems like we are having forrest fires on a daily basis down here, because it has been so dry. Rainy season is supposed to start at the end of this month, where we get our daily afternoon down pour for 15 minutes, but it looks like that won't be happening for a while.

Entire Peabody is flooded! Rt. 1 is closed. I had to do 3 detours to get back home. What's funny is that just two previous weeks ago, they banned using hoses outside in Middleton and Danvers, towns next to me.

Imagine if this was snow, we would've been buried to the roof tops.

We already have a perimeter drain/basement sump and the back yard is still flooded. Water is up to the clapboards and 1/2 inch away from going over the foundation.

So I went out for a second pump to install in the yard. 2nd Home Depot I tried had just run out of pumps when I got there, so I took the floor display model. It was mounted to the display with a sheet rock screw right through the output port housing, but tough shit it was a small hole, so I took it. Still pumps a good amount thankfully and I can exchange it for undamaged when they restock. Things around here are expected to crest tomorrow noon; crossing my fingers.

Half the roads to my house are closed due to flooding. It was a real adventure snaking around 4 towns' roads trying to find a way home. My own neighborhood road may be impassable for a few hours tomorrow.

At least the bike is high and dry on stands in the garage. :D

Did you get a chance to see the river on Harmony Grove?

Here's a few pictures I snapped tonight...

You must've been on duty to be out taking pictures, if not, I'd say you're crazy. Thanks for the pics. I didn't venture and brave the flash floods like some stalled vehicles did. Funny how they brave a street not knowing how deep the water is.

Nope. Not on duty! Just crazy I guess. There were a few others filming the flood with their digicams. Pretty nuts. I didn't actually go into the water though.
