Ok,
I live down here in hot sunny FL. It's not practical for me to wear leather everytime I want to go riding. I always wear gear though. No matter how hot out it is. I'm looking at a few different mesh jackets and I have heard mixed reviews on all 3 of them. Mostly good reviews, but a few bad. What does everyone think out of these 4 jackets, which is going to suit me best. Let me say I am a rather big individual. I'm 6ft, 240. I work out alot so I am very broad shouldered and I need something that fits good. I am looking at these 4:
Icon Timax
Joe Rocket Phoenix 3.0
Fieldsheer Mach 2
Alpinestart T stunt
Out of these 4 what experiences has everyone had with them. Any ones to stay away or even any other ones that people reccomend? Thanks in advance.

i crash tested the phoenix last year and slid in dirt/grass for something like 40 feet or more at around 50 mph. it held up really really well w/a wear spot on the shoulder. It obviously didn't protect against broken bones (collar was broken), but it protected against dirt/rash and abrasions. I don't think i would test it out on asphalt though. my .02. hope it helps.

I'd go with either the Fieldsheer or Alpinestars. I believe both come with CE armor. Icon doesn't seem to have a good reputation so far, and I'm not a big fan of their designs.

I'm actually looking at the alpinestars t-venom air flo jacket for my summer jacket.. does anyone have any experience/opinions on it. It seems to be the same as the t-stunt just different style.

I own an Alpinestars SMX Airflo and it is hands down the best summer jacket I've ever owned. It still doesn't compare to my BB race leathers, but that's besides the point. The airflo offers almost the same cooling effect as any of these crap mesh jackets, and offers you the protection of leather, armor, and hardened portions.

I own the Joe Rocket Pheonix, and the fieldsheer, I prefer the fieldsheer because of the hard armor and the leather abrasion patches, plus it fits a bit better. it breathes just as well as the joe rocket as well.

The Gericke Venom Mesh from newenough is $54 in sizes small and med. I crashed in mine at 70 on the freeway and it was torn up, but I didn't have a scratch except when the jacket started to come up (I was sliding feet first on my stomach). After seeing the jacket, I don't trust mesh anymore. I find it much, much cooler to wear a wet t-shirt under perforated leathers. Better protection and cooling that way.
Just my $.02

I loved my Joe Rocket Pheonix 3.0 until I crashed tested it. It was really cool, and fit great... but I took a tumble over a guard rail and lost confidence in it. I really only got scratched on my arm, but I dont know. Just lost confidence. I would suggest something with like leather pieces to it, or heavy textile (cordura or something I think)

I have an Alpinestars T-stunt air flow. I haven't crash tested it yet, but I do like the hard armor and the reinforced parts at the shoulders.
